E-Ratic storytime 04/04/2021 (Sun) 20:02:47 No. 11085 [Reply] [Last]
By request, issues #1-4 of E-Ratic. I'll drop #5 when it comes out. In my opinion, this feels like an attempt to do a GenZed Spider-Man, but your mileage may very. So far I've liked it, but Woke is always on the table, these days, so the second they have a heroic tranny or similar horse-shit, I'm out. But I must admit, if they can stay off the SJW non-gendered nipple, I might actually buy the first collection. >You’re fifteen years old. You’re suddenly granted incredible powers. Cool, right? There’s only one problem: you can only use your powers for ten minutes at a time. What do you do when you have to save the world but you only have ten minutes to do it? This is the problem faced by Oliver Leif, a teenager who has just moved to a new town, and a new school, and is having a hard enough time navigating classes and his crush before the inter-dimensional monsters started showing up. P.S. - "Gwen Stacy" starts off as a massive cunt, but she starts to improve when she realizes that real life (as it were) is about more than likes and followers. She still henpecks the fuck out of him, but I'm hoping that will change as he gets more confidence.

>>11501 When it tips the scales from "annoying but ignorable" to "I WILL FUCKING DESTROY THEM," that's when I'll quit. In the meantime, I haven't paid for a Marvel comic since '91 and I'm not about to start because of Immortal Hulk. It's better than any other Marvel comics, both in art and writing, but that's a pretty low bar. I do like the inventiveness, though, and the body horror and other horror comic aspects of it. The psychological themes are things that have always interested me. They didn't mention the tranny penis status for many issues, and I liked the slightly-less-clumsy-than-normal way they slipped it in, even if it did still give me the hives. The fact that they didn't make >her look like a supermodel female is also worth noting. It's not redpilled by any stretch of the imagination, but there are many things to like about the comic. Today's release was a bit of filler issue, though. And I'm not going to lie, making Joe Fixit a red Hulk instead of a grey one is absolutely retarded.

Scott Pilgrim Anonymous 10/25/2020 (Sun) 01:11:25 No. 6515 [Reply] [Last]
Anyone here read Scott Pilgrim? I reread it sometime last year and loved it; it's funny how a lot of it can resemble woke shit even though it's not, at all. Not to mention that since O'malley was actually in the same subculture as Scott and the others back when he was younger, it didn't have that over-the-top fakeness that SJWs put in their stories when they attempt to be "punk rock". My only gripe is that in some ways, Ramona got off too easy; Scott was torturing himself about remaining faithful to her as he realizes that his hot actress friend wants to fuck his brains out, and ultimately decides not to take the chance to, and decides to stay with Ramona...who fucks one of her exes. And Scott pretty much doesn't make a fucking peep. I guess the final book somewhat attempting to address that part of Ramona fairly well makes up for that. That, and getting fucking stabbed by Gideon before she can fuck off like she's always done. There's also the fact that Gideon and Ramona's past relationship is only hinted at (very well) and not actually shown, it'd be interesting to see him pulling off some emotional manipulation despite him also being a fucking loser. There's also the lack of an explanation of the blink or whatever the hell it was called; how the fuck did Gideon access that shit, and how'd he give Ramona the ability to use it? Or am I misremembering and he actually isn't connected to it at all? But overall, I loved the series and I'd love to actually own copies of them. And Worst World, if he ACTUALLY FUCKING PUBLISHES IT SOMEDAY.

Ramona was an absolute slut, a race-traitor, and a dyke-for-the-memes participant as well. I'd actually root for Scott to find happiness with Knives, but I hate Scott even more than Ramona, so I was okay with him becoming evil ex #8 on her simp farm.

This is something I've been pondering on for years, now, and I was reminded of it again whilst reading Marvel 1602. I'm hoping you guys can spot me while I attempt some mental gymnastics. Every time an parallel universe is created, we can expect AT LEAST one character to be gay who otherwise would not be. This is common in Current Year™ because of SJWs and someone in Marketing not being up on what the kids REALLY want in their comics. This is a problem, especially for the SJWs who have REALLY not thought this one through. If, for example, Warren Worthington III is straight in Universe 616, and homosexual in Universe 311, that implies that, at some point, Warren either CHOSE dick or was CONVERTED AWAY from clam-digging and into the Greek sport of Bum-Darts. Colossus of 616: straight. Colossus of 1610? Queer as a 3 dollar bill and fucking Northstar. Did he get raped in the commune? Did he see a penis in a Russian bathhouse and think ''Da. Da, I am preferring that to the wagina." And why is Northstar STILL gay? Is that his multiuniversal default or did he just choose to be gay in that universe as well? Is there a straight Northstar out there somewhere? I doubt it. My point is that the SJWs, the main proponents of "born this way," by changing these characters are, in fact, stating that homosexuality is either a choice or something one is trained in to. Has anyone ever asked those fart-inhaling freaks why they think it's okay to make this "problematic" claim? Please note, I did not include Iceman in this because we all know Jean mentally converted him for teenager shipping purposes.

I wish the Ultimate universe had continued being a playground for interesting ideas for established properties instead of ending up as 616-2 and then eventually fucking destroyed in the gayest way imaginable. Ultimates and Ultimate X-Men were pretty meh as a whole but they had their moments. Tony having an inoperable brain tumor explaining his eccentric playboy billionaire persona was cool and made sense. His suit looked super rad before they eventually just made it 616 style. Dr. Strange being the son of the guy who would have been 616 Strange was really cool. Seeing him blunder about working with things he didn't fully understand yet was cool. Y'know, until Ultimatum. Don't even get me started on the Cable twist, that shit blew me away when I was a teenager. I think Marvel really benefited from having a place removed from main continuity that you could use to take characters in new directions but still with some sense of permanency. Shame things panned out the way they did and we're stuck with the blandest Spider-man instead of any of the actually fun characters.
>>11472 I have the Ultimate Dare Devil and Elektra run, which I occasionally revisit. It's meh as well. Though, it's the good kind of "meh," and not the kind that makes me want to eventually cremate it. I just don't think I'll ever purchase the 2004 Ultimate Elektra to go along with it. > having a place removed from main continuity that you could use to take characters in new directions but still with some sense of permanency. Maybe they had Ken Penders type of writers which griped and moaned so much, they had to give in their demands and let their work flow onto the mainline. They could have easily fired them. But, you have some people that know how to grab their company by the balls and squeeze in order to get what they want.

The tumor was SELF-AWARE and Tony treated it like a little brother or son. The most insane shit would happen in the Ultimate universe and then you'd never hear about it again. >Tony's bone cavities were full of brain tissue instead of marrow and that's why he was so smart >The very air hurt his skin so his dad painted him in some protective blue paint >Black Widow toyed with him until he made her a custom Black Widow armor... then she proceeded to fuck off back to Russia with it so they reverse engineer it >Hawkeye lost his wife and kids and gained a deathwish. Then he got over it. >Pietro and Wanda were lovers. When Cap started to object, WASP told him to butt out...just before she was eaten. >Wolverine in Peter Parker's body tried to do something to MJ that she wanted to save until a time when they were both ready for it. some time ago back on 8k (before the whole debacle) some anon posted about some kinda unknown italian cartoon named Star Key. the show feels like those imitation-anime toons from back in the 00s, but it was made in 2018. All 26 episodes are in YT, but untranslated in italian. The story is about Luce, the protagonist, who is an orphan that discovers shes a princess from a distant planet, and the only one capable of finding some mythical artifact (the star Key) for reasons theres also an antagonist princess named Fedora who is also looking for said item. Been checking episodes back and forth, but my pasta-speak is very weak. somebody on YT subbed the first episode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzOvJPcGNfM

Why does this piece of shit exist? Do people actually like this? And WHY THE EVER-LOVING FUCK did they ADD DOUBLE-PAGE SPREADS BETWEEN CHAPTERS YOU CAN'T READ BECAUSE THE BOOK DOESN'T OPEN WIDE ENOUGH? It's like these faggots somehow forgot their shitty capeshit would be compiled in a book someday, a book my poor sister bought me for Christmas because "it'd be nice to have a book with more than just words in it." This isn't even getting into that awful ending, how boring not-Rorschach was, or how the writer thought Ozymandias commissioning a statue of his dead cat from Jeff Koons was in-character. At least that fat slob of a magicfag had the sense to not read this. My dumb ass read it through to the very end and now I feel physically ill. I never want to see to see Superman or any of these stupid faggots again.

>>8675 Doomsday Clock is less bad than HBO's show. It's not a high bar to beat. HBO's Watchmen was just a very dumb show. It is like all edgy comics that learned wrong lessons from Watchmen, but live action version that skipped edge for politics overdose and mixed it with modern pandering. It is so clueless that the series almost becomes a parody of itself and of all other modern, incompetent adaptions. Idiotic, cringe dialogue that is supposed to come across as witty, badass, or insightful is the best example. Like many other Watchemn continuations, it only uses superficial elements of the original comic, and characters are dumbed down. At the end of the comic it was clear that Manhattan was not interested in fitting into human society, done with Earth, and that Owl and Silk Specter were done with crime fighting. TV show's entire premise meanwhile hinges on the fact that Manhattan is back on Earth and he suddenly wants to be a normal human. Silk Specter meanwhile is now working as a government agent (back to crime fighting but without a suit) and is obsessed with finding Manhattan. Ozymandias was butchered too. He goes from calculating thinker with a superiority complex in comics, to an over-the-top raging lunatic with an edgy hobby of torturing his clone servants. HBO's show is just a run of the mill modern trash. It literally ends with blue laser shooting into the sky, villain defeated with sneaking back behind him and whacking him unconscious, and a "brave" ambiguous non-conclusion as to whether Sister Night got Manhattan powers. >>8684 It was Lindelof's project, and he will always force in pozz no matter how hamfisted it has to be. Lindeloff is almost 50 years old.
>>8734 It says a lot when every crappy CW/ WB show gets saved by HBO Max but Watchmen is the on that gets the axe.

Besides Druuna and Manara's work, there is Muse too. It is more recent than well know European erotic comic classics, but almost as good. The story is about a new caretaker, or rather a baby sitter and companion to a rich boy inventor. He lives without parents in an isolated, lavish estate. He works days and nights on his elaborate inventions, automating even the most mundane things. His only companions are a small handful of servants. Our protagonist is supposed to teach the boy how to have a happy, carefree childhood. Unfortunately, the boy is pretty adamant about his inventions, so getting him to enjoy being a kid is a challenge. Another thing that's a challenge are mildly odd things happening at the estate, and protagonists' strange dreams. Since she happens to be a beautiful woman and this is an erotic comic, these dreams usually end up with her in somewhat compromising and revealing situations. Muse aims for a light and carefree feel, so authors do not go as far as Manara tends to. Despite obvious focus on cheesecake, the comic builds mystery well. Trying to find out what's exactly going on and why, makes it a page turner. It’s a quick read, and both tomes can be finished in one sitting. Overall, the plot is a mix of mystery and fairy tale, with some costume drama and a dash of scifi. Other than the mystery, there is not that much meat to the story, but it is still decent fairy tale. Art is loose but very good. Not only the attractive protagonist, but other characters, costumes, machines, and architecture. Visual storytelling and motion is on point too (save for a one goofy panel where protagonist falls out of her boat, and few "quality" panels due to sloppy coloring). Not much corner cutting, although it is pretty obvious that landscapes and furniture are not the priority here. Quite high production values, and that's not very common for cheesecake comics. Everything is drawn by Terry Dodson. Another rarity, since he is an American artist working on a French comic. Not only that, but he spent years working for big two. Muse is lighter and less vulgar than something Manara might publish, but this is still rare for someone affiliated with Marvel and DC. Cho, Wally Wood, and Bruce Timm are the only other high profile creators who dabbled in erotica, at least to my knowledge.

I finally got around to reading "Les Indes Fourbes." It's a follow-up to a novel from 1604 about a low class scammer known as Pablos. In his pursuit of virtue and adventure, he is taken on a journey around 16th century Spain. Pablos he is plagued by bad luck, succumbs to greed, and engages in various scams. "The Swindler" is English translated title I know it under, but there are other versions. Original novel ends with the main character wondering if he should try his luck in colonies. That's what the comic is about. Bad luck follows Pablos to Americas. He fails in his quest for wealth, and is found half-dead by city guards. His mumbling about El Dorado piques greedy governor's interest. Pablo's interrogation serves as a framing device for the story. Juanjo Guarnido of Blacksad's fame is responsible for the artwork. It is very good, but not quite as good as what you can see in Blacksad. There is less detail, backgrounds are looser, and art is less dynamic. Not bad by any means, but it is obvious that something is missing compared to his art in Blacksad. Maybe Juan Díaz Canales had influence on art despite being a writer, or maybe Guarnido is getting old and tired. It is only a slight step down. Art is still very good and better than most comics. While artwork might not be better than Blacksad's, writing definitely is. That's because Les Indes Fourbes has a different author, Alain Ayroles. Unlike Blacksad's Díaz Canales, Ayroles has far more experience. He is best known for De Cape et de Crocs (Capes and Claws), but wrote many other stories. Writing in Les Indes Fourbes are quite nuanced. Characters that manage to be scumbags, but appealing enough to get reader invested. There are no good guys. Only people with their own agendas committed or desperate enough to do anything. Natives are not saints, and Spaniards aren't all complete tyrants. The worst characters concentrate at the top and bottom of colonial society. Colonists and natives in between get short end of the stick while struggling to get by. In lesser author's hands this story could devolve into typical black and white cliché. Here the main focus is Pablos' personal odyssey as he faces twists of fate. Preachiness is minimal and present only when it servers the main plot. Overall, Les Indes Fourbes is very good. Absolutely worth it if you can understand French or happen to find translations.
