It's easier with boxes and geometric shapes, as there's a definite truth behind those. By that, I mean you can go through the horizon line, vanishing point and convergence song and dance to verify that what you did was entirely correct. It's easier to proceed with feeling out arbitrary forms once you have a more provable model to work off of. In other words, can you draw the silhouette of a right-angled box at a specific angle and vantage point of your choosing, making the outlines feel real? If not, can you draw those six lines that make up a box and at least derive from those a vantage point and angle that make sense? Just getting the lines to converge in the right way is a good first step, the next would be to hone them into more accuracy, and another would be recreating them at will, allowing you to stack many different forms into the same imaginary area, having them all conform to the same perspective. If you're going to go into feeling the forms and your intuition doesn't pick up on the idea right away, try boxy right-angled shapes, and go through the rigmarole of proving yourself correct via vanishing points and whatever construction tools with which you are familiar. Until you know what you're doing, it's going to be a fight between feels and reals, both of which can be improved.

I don't even know what to do with most of it so I just copy most of the stuff in the pages and apply it to reference pictures that I use since the text in the book is worthless geezer rambling. I find that taking bits from here and there has worked out the best for me.
