ACTUALLY obscure vidya Anonymous 05/02/2021 (Sun) 17:24:49 Id: 1f3575 No. 299761
I have never seen anyone talk about this game, ever. I am confident to say that this is one extremely obscure title, up until recently you could only get an ISO for it from some obscure russian emulation forum and from select private trackers. It was recently uploaded to CDRomance so now anyone can get their hands on it. Designed by Taro Kudo, of Love-de-Lic fame (Moon Remix RPG) and director of some not so good Paper Mario games. If you know anything about the people who were involved with Love-de-Lic, then you know how unique and special their games are (think Giftpia, Chibi-Robo, Chulip) It sold 9k copies during its first week in Japan, which doesn't sound like a lot.for an Enix published title and there is honestly little information about it online. This is from the Wikipedia page >The player takes on the role of a 5th-grade boy who is accidentally warped to a fictional island called Endonesia. The protagonist must communicate with the island's 50 sealed gods in order to return home. The boy does so by obtaining several abilities called Emo powers, which draw on his emotions, and the emotions of those around him. The game features day and night cycles as well as days of the week, with the island stuck in a 10-day time loop. I don't have a PS2 to test this game with and PCSX2 seems to behave oddly when I try it, some background are missing. Here's some gameplay footage, there are hardly any videos for it on Youtube. https://yewtu.be/watch?v=lilBe-ldJYU If any of you anons have a PS2 to test this game and can drop some footage, that would be appreciated. Take note, this is a text heavy game that remains untranslated. https://cdromance.com/ps2-iso/endonesia-japan/ Another extremely obscure set of titles are the Jungle Park games by Saru Brunei, developers best known for Cubivore on the Gamecube. These games, released on the Saturn and Playstation basically served as a sort of proto-Cubivore testing ground walking simulator. There might have been a Jungle Park title for the Bandai Pippin as well, which I don't believe was developed by Saru Brunei, can't find much on it.
There's this one really obscure game, it's so obscure that I don't even know what it's called or looks like.
Endonesia worked fine the last time I tried it out, it's your typical throwaway "artsy" RPG that Love-de-Lic people were selling after they left Square, it only sold like several thousands copies in Japan so I can't imagine anyone was too interested in playing another one of those kinds of games as a launch title for the PS2 with such a low budget.
>>299898 I think one of the copies on the internet could be corrupted, I remember grabbing one off of baidu when links were still functioning.

Genshi no Kotoba, I have no idea what this game is about, I have never played it. I just have a copy laying around. Space Fishermen, cartoony fishing in space. Published by Sony themselves back when they weren't afraid to try new off-beat things, remember that polar bear singing game? Sagashi ni Ikouyo, I don't speak Japanese so I haven't been able to make much progress in this one. It's an early RPG for the PS2 published by Sony. It kinda feels a bit like King's Field except not. There was also all those games starring Sony's mascot Toro which use real life backgrounds and 3D characters, they are bizarre since I can't understand shits, I guess that they aren't actually obscure in Japan. Oh and there was that one microphone input, japanese PS2 game with weird 3dcg art done by John K.
This thread is warping my perception of reality.

Motherfucking Gazzilionaire Deluxe. Space (((merchant))) game where some weird alien fuck gives you a loan to buy a ship and you spend the rest of your playtime trading stocks, paying taxes, buying and selling resources and doing whatever you can to pay off the loan. Hot-seat multiplayer game too, so you and some friends can band together and see who can become the biggest space jew in the universe. Weird as fuck designs, glorified spreadsheet turned into a game but it's fun as fuck.

>>299772 Team Fortress, the original. Holy shit you'd think it'd be easily deductible for anyone with half a brain cell even if they hadn't played it before, there have been a dozen game nights with it, and anyone who's even a casual Valve fag should have played it along with their entire catalog of games. Anyway pic related and other horror games like it.

>>300059 I trying to remember that kids' 3D platformer on PS2 in Japan that looked very much like an early Dreamcast title. The only major thing about it was that it had an English voice mode since it helped teach Japanese kids English.

>>300009 Sorry for leaving you hanging, anon. Work is a bitch. It's a very old Visual Novel (if you can even call it that) styled game where you play as an Italian Chav/Ponce/Dudebro. You get to pick a bunch of garish clothes, improve stats, (try to) woo women and overall live your high school life by being a degenerate. It's nothing spectacular, but I remember being way too in depth for what it actually is, like, your stats are given as a school report card but they influence some other shit outside of the school, which in turn influence how much you can learn etc. It's basically Rule the Waves but for douches. Obviously, the 90s Metalheads are the natural enemy of the Chavs.

Lots of dumb meme shit on here, but also games that fit the criteria of the thread
(6.52 MB 640x360 Kuri Kuri.mp4)

I've been thinking about this ever since I saw this thread. Goddamn Kuri Kuri Mix Nobody remembers this game. It's a weird adventure with even weirder music and gameplay. You control these two rabbits at the same time through linear, vaguely Crash Bandicoot-like levels.

>>300256 Reminds me of my personal favorite spreadsheet game, Dope Wars. >Originally a dos game, dope wars drops you into the shoes of a drug pusher down on his luck. You are at a zero sum with a 50k loan hanging over your head by some people more dangerous than the 1970s streets of nyc you frequent. You must buy guns, hire bitches to haul your shit, dodge trigger happy cops and buy the ludes on coney island cheap to sell them for a massive profit on wall street. Can you make it all back and even breakthrough it all to be a millionaire? https://dopewars.sourceforge.io/ This is download of a "remaster" of the game to run on modern systems. I love it because you can edit every part of this, from prices of guns and drugs, to the location names, and even make it so that you are shooting hotpockets and moot himself. I think this also has a multiplayer mode as well. Great way to kill time at work. >Picture is the dos version, the revamp looks different
(38.54 KB 450x390 winxp-multi.png)

>>304272 >Fucked up the goddamn picture That is not the revamp. Nor the dos version. This is the proper picture
>>304116 Yeah, it was called Cookie & Cream in America. Played it with my little bro along with Klonoa 2, Tekken Tag Tournament and that one RPG Cloud something.

>>299761 >there are hardly any videos for it on Youtube. Maybe if you search in English, but there's plenty of footage under エンドネシア.
>>329013 oh, i didnt notice they were all RPGMaker games. my bad, i thought it was just a list of generic obscure vidya.
(44.38 KB 460x215 header.jpg)

I don't know how obscure this game actually is but I've never seen it talked about here. It was a fun 3D 3rd person pokemon ripoff, some of the platforming was annoying though.

very fun dungeon crawler, had to go to some french site to get the rom for it and the only copies i can see online are on ebay (for $4K USD) and on yahoo japan (for $2K USD) so I'm surprised someone managed to get a dump of it at all
(89.29 KB 512x500 Suzuki Bakuhatsu.jpg)

>>369261 Oh shit I know this game, it's obscure in the West but I think it's a serious cult classic in Japan. For anybody that's never heard of it, it's a bomb disposal puzzle game where the bombs get increasingly more ridiculous. It starts off normal but eventually you get to things like disguised oranges.
(76.84 KB 1024x767 Bakuhatsu.jpg)

Speed Punks is a criminally underrated kart racer for the PS1 by Funcom. Great art style, great music and very fun racing.

>>300059 I remember Space Fishermen. Pretty fun and got a great artstyle, kinda reminiscent of spumco. >>304272 That reminds me of a BBS door game called Pimpwars. It had player rankings as well as PvP where you could firebomb other player's whorehouses. BBS games are underrated
