Pokémon Company Confirm Pokémon Legends Arceus is Not an Open-World Game Anonymous 10/09/2021 (Sat) 20:54:51 Id: 4e42be No. 437994
The Pokémon Company have confirmed Pokemon Legends Arceus is not a truly open-world game, but seemingly more akin to Monster Hunter. Fooling absolutely everyone with bullshit marketing. Honestly I'm actually impressed, the last time someone was able to bullshit so hard was Metal Gear Solid V, although I think EVERYONE is expecting Arceus to be half assed. Still, I'm quite impressed how Game Freak continues to fuck up, yet people keep buying their shit. I think all someone needs to do to compete is to steal the base formula but actually enrich it with content. Still I figured this was worth a thread considering how they pretty much lied in their marketing. https://archive.ph/vKDHA
I just wish to see a Pokemon game where the Pokemon are accurate to scale
>>437994 >Doing the right thing and not making Pokemon open world. >Underage anon thinks this is "fucking up" OK.
>>438008 They outright lied in their marketing.
>>438024 Pokemon was never open-world so why should it matter?
>>438027 What part of lying on their marketing don't you understand, you big fat fucking retard?
Pokemon meets MonHun could work if GameFreak wasn't so incompetent and the Switch wasn't so painfully underpowered.
>>438045 The consumer is 120% at fault here.
(79.92 KB 249x214 jessie.png)

>>438024 >They outright lied in their marketing. And? What do expect us todo about it? Pokemon is like CoD, Fifa or AssCreed. They come out almost yearly now, mostly always shit and bought by imbeciles. If you are mad at Gamefreak's marketing and angry the next Pokemon game is not doing the open world meme you really are an underage faggot. Nobody cares except Pokefags. Unless your are going to post some Jessie porn fuck off as image boards are not your private army.

>>438024 Masuda lied again? Say it ain't so, anon. Say it ain't so.

>>438045 >the Switch wasn't so painfully underpowered why do people continue to parrot that crap? The thing runs PS3 games better than the original hardware, and japanese PS4 games also run on the handheld with little to no concessions. If a game fails to run properly on Switch, that's mainly the fault of the dev team in question, not of the hardware. I assume the pic is a shitpost from 4chan too.
>>438042 >>438054 >what're you gonna do about it Bitch about it
>>438062 Anon, DOOM 2016 runs at 480p30 on the Switch.
I have been playing this shit for over 20 years. I don't care about it being openworld or not, it needs a new battle system, maybe a spinoff tictac series that adds all the regular features with tictac combat. I just played it to death and lost interest no matter how much furbait they throw in it.
>>438066 And nuDOOM 2016 was made by Bethesda. Your point?
>>438069 That being said, I miss Jade Cocoon and the joy of trying to figure out how to make merging monsters work. It was the superior monster catching game.
Boy, sure feels like summer in this thread. >But it's autumn It's always summer somewhere in the world.
>>438075 Oh boi, summer meme is still going around? I would ring true on 4chins, maybe you should go back there.
>>438075 No, retard. Every time zone around the world says it's autumn right now.
>>438070 If a linear corridor shooter with mostly small enclosed areas struggles to run on it then your hardware is probably outdated and underpowered.
>>438080 I'm not an expert but wouldn't it be spring in the southern hemisphere?
>>438081 NuDoom is hardly corridor shooting, did you even play that garbage fire?
>>438081 Entirely depends on the engine and the effort put in by the codemonkeys, remember how amazing Just Cause 2 ran on outdated hardware while Saints Row 2 ran like on dogshit on hardware that could run Far Cry?
(109.09 KB 640x360 ClipboardImage.png)

>Smartphone in Sengoku Era Who still plays NuPokemon?
>>438081 >If a linear corridor shooter with mostly small enclosed areas struggles to run on it then your hardware is probably outdated and underpowered. Or, it could be that the game has spaghetti code and shit optimization.
>>438103 >monsters in real life Who still plays video gmaes?
>>438103 This game is set at least a thousand years before DPP, a era so primitive that acorn balls were all they had (and were wholly ineffective, considering the trainer in legends can fight alongside their pokemon), gatherer was a legitimate profession, and everyone married their pokemon and no one even cared because they were all doing it. And here you're telling me they were advanced enough to invent smartphones, but not to stop ejaculating inside their pets? Come on.
>>438161 I like how they're drawing so many parallels with DPP, I bet there will be some twist in the end that links the two together, or that they exist in a lot closer an era than we are lead to believe, kind of like how dinosaurs and real dragons existed only hundreds of years ago rather than millions.
There's a high chance that Arceus will get a new form in this game
>>438165 I hope Arceus isn't catchable. The fact Arceus is supposed to be the First/God should not be understated. Arceus should be very scary looking, too.
>>438070 Anon you're painfully stupid holy shit neck yourself
>>437994 But it is still Pokémon,so it is still shit.
>>438170 Arceus we see in the games and media is typically just an avatar and not the actual deity itself, it's standard Hindu mythology.
The gameplay for every new installment gets worse and worse. The only saving grace is the new porn. trainer and poke alike
>>438132 Or maybe a fucking Tegra X1 is outdated.
>>438062 youre actually retarded if you think the switch hardware isnt dogshit trash. it was underpowered when it came out, and not its just ridiculous
>>438027 They lied in marketing you obtuse moron.
>>438161 The setting supposedly takes place in 18th-century japan or at least takes some inspiration from it. It's not that far in the past but around the Edo period.
>>438201 And yet it doesn’t matter. At all.

>>438281 >Hey, look at it this way, it's your own money your wasting, not mine. But is any one on this site really going to waste on money this? No, at most they'll just pirate it. We can't convenience nintendo stop doing this shit, since the paypigs keep buying these mediocre games. So it feels kinda futile to even bitch about it. At worst the 'defending' is just jaded guys saying/thinking 'You get what you fucking deserve'.

I still cannot get over how ugly Sword & Shield was. I know people parrot the "it looks like a PS2 game!" thing a lot, but that's not true, PS2 games often look better then SWSH
>>438340 You forget just how much shovelware there was on the PS2. Granted, however, I've seen even budget Dreamcast game look more detailed than Pokemon S/S.
>>438273 >>438300 They outright lied and should be given shit for it,
Where is the pokeyman competition, anyways? Whatever happened to that Korean overhyped, overproduced K-pop music video CGI trailer "game" that everyone creamed themselves over or that super edgy pokemon with guns game?
>>438340 >SH3 upscaled, jpg How did you get your PS2 to do that?
>>438340 The comparison you are making is so retarded that you should delete your post.
>>438183 >Arceus >Hindu mythology. When's Preserver Arceus and Destroyer Arceus? >>438187 >The only saving grace is the new porn. trainer and poke alike I really like Alcremie, but i also like slime girls so i'm biased. >>438388 > They outright lied and should be given shit for it, And the fans defending them, too.
>>438066 and Alien Isolation on Switch is the second best version after PC, surpassing even the PS4 SKU. >>438197 >youre actually retarded if you think the switch hardware isnt dogshit trash But it is not. You should actually blame Gamefreak for its incompetence as a developer, not the hardware.
>>438469 Alien Isolation is an insanely well optimized game, I recall being able to play it on ny last PC which was quite a junker.
>>438499 I still dont get how a studios that dedicates itself to strategy games managed to pull out such a great survival horror.
>>438512 Because Total War sucks ass and is only trucking along on the fact that it has zero competition to it.
>>438515 I like it though.
>>438516 I understand. I like some of the older games too. But I also think they're shit games that could be far better and it really pains me seeing the series constantly flip flop around mediocre to dogshit just because they really have no incentive to do better.
>>438518 I still like some of the newer games, atleast they are trying new things like total wawa or the new mechanics in troy.

>>438081 Doom had some pretty open areas with a lot of shit going on in the background on some levels. That's a particularly demanding game made by a studio working for a publisher that is not known for well optimized games. I'm not surprised it runs like shit on a handheld (let alone Xboner/pisspoor), it wasn't made for one in the slightest >>438300 Do you know where you are? Remember when a bunch of faggots back on 8chins bought Fallout 4 anyway? >>438401 The comparison he is making is totally valid because it's a game on a console from three generations ago that looks better than the shit GaymeFreak can make.

Why hasn't kiketendo ever considered doing the unthinkable and letting f*ns develop an official Pokeman game? There ought to be a few autists out there capable of developing something presentable in a karoshi room with signed Nintendo merch.
>>438768 >Why hasn't kiketendo ever considered doing the unthinkable and letting f*ns develop an official Pokeman game? Gamefreak probably think only they can do it right.
>>438768 >Why hasn't kiketendo ever considered doing the unthinkable Probably because considering the unthinkable is unfathomable and incomprehensible.
>>438769 The DPP remakes are being developed by someone else
>>438716 yeah Kinkymation is the sole female artist who truly tapped into that potential >>438768 Bamco did develop the New Pokemon Snap game on Switch which I've heard it's pretty good even it's exclusively about taking photos of monsters. There is also the Pokemon Diamond/Pearl remake handled by ILCA (known for its involvement in Ace Combat 7, Dragon Quest 11S, Idolmaster Starlit Season, etc)
>>438882 I can't wait to see what she does with Jynx
>>438768 Because Nintendo made it's huge break after the cataclysmic game crash when shit low quality games flooded the market from every direction. This gave birth to the "Nintendo seal of quality", where Nintendo has paranoid beliefs that low quality games made by other people will fuck them over.
>>438815 And they're directed by the person that ruined the Ruby/Sapphire remakes.
>>439292 In other words, no Platinum content. The upgraded Underground isn't a good tradeoff.
>>439474 But the R/S remakes had Emerald stuff like catching Rayquaza.

(88.67 KB 608x774 Battle_Park_DP.png)

>>439500 It looks exactly like the Battle Park (pic related) did in Diamond/Pearl. I guess this confirms that it won't have Platinum's Battle Frontier. What a shame.
Seems like a massive jump for Pokemon games either way.
>>439706 Certainly not in quality
That's a good thing.
(101.84 KB 700x394 Kingdom Hearts 2.jpg)

>>438340 The world looks so bad and I find it hard to pinpoint why. It's not just the terrible graphics, Morrowind has bad graphics but that game looks fine. >>438401 The comparison is fair, those games came out 17 years apart and somehow the newer one looks considerably worse. There are moments where Sword and Shield looks presentable, like the opening, but the majority of the game looks like a unity fan game. And it's not like Silent Hill 3 is some godlike standout like how Star Fox was for the SNES, plenty of games from the era look better than SW&SH. If you still want a fairer comparison, try the Kingdom Hearts games. The character models are equally stylized and blow Kusogémon's characters out of the water.
(34.18 KB 400x240 route3.jpg)

>>439984 I wonder if they actually decided on a visual style? In that picture it feels like a mishmash of realistic older PC game (the wall and ground), trees from some free 3D asset site, cartoon-ish/anime-ish character. Ideally nothing should feel out of place, but instead it feels like some asset flip game or something. Pic related, you can see that they've gone using a sort of 'painted' look for the ground, and using one or two gradients to colour objects that the player needs to be aware of but without jumping out too much. All characters have an outline which helps them stand out from the ground and objects. I don't even really like the art style of the 3ds Pokemon games, but at least I can make one out. When I look at the SM picture my eyes are naturally drawn to the berries and the player character, when I look at the SS picture nothing besides the trees pop out. Some of that is from the low resolution, but the models are so low low quality that it would be more at home on the 3ds. I remember someone saying that SS was made by the B team, so perhaps nobody from the A team told them that when you go to a new console you need to get your art style down on paper.
I decided to get back into pokemon go and I'm going to take a run to hatch a few eggs, post your favorite pokemon music.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pF1n0GflZMg

>>447764 Regional forms were a mistake. I wish mega forms weren't such a success, they took that as >now we can add whatever form we want instead of expanding on Megas, because I do like Megas and they can potentially fix some old pokemon. Gigantamax and regional forms add absolutely nothing to the whole thing. Also, megas are not a thing in S/S right?
>I think all someone needs to do to compete is to steal the base formula but actually enrich it with content. The formula is basically the first Dragon Quest with a few of the most tired RPG mechanics ever centered around a monster-raising gimmick. Pokemon, as a game was never actually fun itself, the novelty of the premise carried what was otherwise one of the most dated and bland RPGs ever to exist. Maybe since gen three there's some interesting strategy in battles, but most of the game doesn't emphasize it, and there's so much needless grinding in the official games A lot of people who are really into that play on unofficial ripoffs. The appeal is the fantasy of making friends with magical creatures. Make a formula around that.
>>447764 Is a "Normal/Ghost" typing even good for battle? I checked, and it seems like this new Zorua/Zoroark are the first ones with that unique type combination.
>>449689 They got rid of mega evolution and those Z moves with S/S.
>>449716 It's got three immunities I guess. It resists bug and poison. Everything else is neutral. Only problem is it's still weak to dark, which is a somewhat common offensive typing, and Ghost+Normal Stab doesn't provide much in terms of coverage. On the bright side, if it still has the Illusion ability three immunities is no mean feat, then again team preview renders Zoroark's basically useless so that probably won't be relevant.

>>449723 Abilities have been removed from the game and stats have been modified so don't expect this to play out like the standard meta we're used to.
>>449689 Megas were a mistake because it meant Mons that should have gotten evolutions never will.
>>449765 >abilities gone Bury this trash then.
>>449806 >TOR user being a fag again. Why would this game even fucking have abilities? It is set centuries before fuckers had the tech to give Pokemon abilities. Are you actually retarded?

>>449910 >Nobody gives a fuck about Pokemon canon. Give us abilities or fuck off. Obviously the devs do so your shit out of luck. So sperg on Anon.
>>449937 >>449852 You are the sperg though retard, Nintendo does not give a fuck about lore consistency. Muh technology for abilities doesn't exist.
>>449852 Pokemon are born with abilities. It's moves that are taught through technology. The real reason GameFreak removed abilities is that Arceus is for a more casual audience. They did the same thing with BidenPE.
>>449765 Ah, baby game bullshit. Nevermind, Zoroark is literal garbage then assuming it's stats aren't radically changed. >>449852 Don't quote canon bullshit nonsense at me like Pokemon company has integrity, it's just baby game dumbing down for idiots.
>>449957 Well you fags aint getting your abilities you moan and bitch at the pokemon devs yet you all still buy these trash games. Here is an idea why don't you actually boycott this shit like you all make out you do here (but we know you don't). The boycott of the new Ghost Recon beta got the game cancelled, boycotts can work but I guess Reconfags have more of a fucking spine than Poke-fags,
>>449968 I haven't bought a Pokemon game since Gen IV, and I haven't played a Pokemon game since Gen V
>>449689 >Regional forms were a mistake. On the contrary, I actually think they're a great solution to a long-standing problem that Pokemon has had, and it's a shame it wasn't thought of sooner. The Pokemon roster is full of basic mon with similar designs and roles because for every new region they had to introduce "the flying-type bird", "the normal-type rodent/mammal", "the water-type fish". So you get all these shitty, generic and completely forgettable Pokemon designs that bloat the roster and add nothing to the universe. Regional forms solve this problem by allowing the devs to use classic Pokemon in new regions to round-out the roster. Now instead of making 100 new shitty Pokemon, they can focus on 20 or 30 good designs, and use regional forms to fill in the gaps. The Pokemon national roster would look a lot better right now if Gamefreak thought of this in gen 4 or 5, rather than 7.
>>449987 You know what, maybe you have a point, let's see. >"the flying-type bird" Not a single regional form is of the generic first route birds, of the two games that do have regional forms, they both still have generic birds (Rookidee and Pikpek respectively.) >"the normal-type rodent/mammal" Fair enough, Zigzagoon lines and Ratata lines got regional forms, yet they still put in generic rodents (Yungoos and Skwovet respectively) instead of just using Ratata or Zizagoon. >"the water-type fish" The first generic water-type fish to get a regional form is coming out with Arceus. Nothing was done with them for two gens, furthermore, the two regions already known still introduced a generic water fish each gen (Arrokunda and WishiWashi respectively.) I would agree with you wholeheartedly if they replaced generic rodents and fish with regional variants, but that's not what's happening.
>>449968 >still buy Where do you think you are?
(40.57 KB 387x524 pokemon_bird.jpg)

Each game only adds 20 pokemon plus one legendary and one regional form line. but Animations are on the level of colosseum Y/N?
>>450002 to be fair, pokemon games are the only kinds of games that I myself would buy. Thanks to the ability of letting you transfer pokemon from earlier games into the future games, you have an incentive to own all the games and hardware. it's crazy I can take my pokemon from 2001 and transfer it to the latest games, or defeat the elite four in every game with it. Definitely a cool feature, I have very fond memories with a lot of my pokemon and definitely have sentimentality with a lot of these games as well. That said, this feature kinda isn't there anymore, since starting with let's go and sword/shield, you can't transfer every single pokemon anymore, just some of them, which was the whole point. I know you can just hack them in, btw, but that just isn't the same. Sitting there and seeing them physically go into another game/console and seeing how they look in the new gen is just magical every time. I would still shamelessly paypig for the new games if they let me transfer all my childhood shitmons as I please >>450008 no, colosseum and GoD has better animation than current pokemon games. I don't see the arceus game being any better
>>450010 The last Pokemon games worth buying were >Pokemon BW2 >Pokemon MD Explorers >Pokemon Conquest Everything else is shit.
>>450010 >no, colosseum and GoD has better animation than current pokemon games. I don't see the arceus game being any better I'm asking if you'd take the deal.
>>450010 >starting with sword and shield To this day I am still shocked every time I see a Hoennbabby that doesnt know the disappointment of not being able to trade your old guys over, even though Gen II could already do it. So many of the complaints about Sword and Shield are just repeats of problems Gen III had, but you underage faggots just pretend those things didnt happen. And to this day you still cant transfer your guys from the original games, only from modified roms that you have to purchase digital copies of. The original guys from every game prior to Gen III, including all the games that were out in 2001, are not tradable to later games, because they decided that when they made Gen III. And dont give me that bullshit that different stats and stuff would make them incompatible. Gen II had similar types of differences and they accounted for them when trading from Gen I.
>>450031 I wouldn't mind if we never got any more new pokemon, period. I would heavily prefer games that take existing pokemon and put a new spin on the mechanics and meta, like colosseum/GoD did. Bring back megas/Z-Crystals and give us a game that is all about triple and rotation battles, something that is barely present in the two gens they were present in. There is so much potential in what we already have, it's crazy, and I hope romhackers do something with it. It's a shame GoD/Col hacking scene isn't anywhere near that level of complexity, tho(they did add fairy type and physical/special split tho) >>450034 this feels like a copypasta from cuckchan
>>450034 >So many of the complaints about Sword and Shield are just repeats of problems Gen III had No they are not, and you are trying you force your autistic hoenn hatred as a meme. >Gen II had similar types of differences and they accounted for them when trading from Gen I. They were not as significant nor did they have a brand new stat system
>>450035 Wait, you think cuckchan is more likely to have an older userbase less comprised of Hoennbabbies that never played Gens I or II and thus didnt feel the sting of all the things Gen III removed, including backwards compatibility? You think the userbase here is actually younger than 4chan's current userbase?
>>450038 Reminder that Gen 1 and 2 are irredeemably shit in current year.
>>449720 >>449793 >No Mega Mawile in Arceus >Despite fitting the theme I hate gamefreak.
>>450037 Its not a meme. It was common opinion until hoennbabbies got old enough to shitpost, because its objective fact. Mad you cant transfer your old guys to the new game? Tell me about it. I was mad about that since Ruby and Sapphire. Mad about a bunch of Pokemon from the old games being absolutely unavailable by any means (except cheating) at launch, then sold back to you in separate purchases later? Yeah, welcome to the early 2000s. And the stats and everything are largely the same and nothing that couldnt be converted similar to how gen io handled differences, how gen IV handled differences, and how eventually gen I and ii pokemon differences were handled once you could transfer them to the new games. They could have done that in gen iii instead of locking them out and making it so you had to re-buy gen I just so you could recatch them and trade them to gen iii, and then buy a gamecube, limited editions of gamecube games, and a special gamecube gba link cable, so you could get the rest. It was shit then and its shit now. But its extra shit for you to complain about it now but pretend it was okay then. If you weren't underaged youd remember.
>>450038 you do realize that 4chan has a /vp/ board, right? it was formerly called /tr/, I know because I browsed it before the split make a post that doesn't feel like it was written as bait, and maybe you won't get called out for it that said, I don't mind that gen 3 had a reboot, because it was the first game with a major leap in technology/overhaul in game mechanics, and I can 100% believe that had trouble transfering pokemon from previous games at the time(a lot of the move combos were also weird, if you compare them to what we have now, so maybe they didn't want that, either). My problem is that sword/shield didn't introduce anything radically new to the formula, so instead of getting a whole slew of new pokemon features in return for starting out fresh, they simply cut out content so they can sell DLC/because they were feeling lazy, and you can't really slice it any other way also, there is a way to transfer gb and gbc pokemon over to gba, in case you didn't know
>>450043 Literally everything you said about gen iii applies to the latest games as well. It isnt bait to say objective facts that idiots are just too young and uninformed to be aware of. And I'm quite sure whatever method you describe for transferring from II to III is not legitimate and is cheating, as I mentioned. It's not the same as the proper trading we had before.

>>450042 I'm not mad at all because I don't care about Pokemon anymore you retarded autist. I've only played my old copies and rom hacks since I have been in high school. >Mad about a bunch of Pokemon from the old games being absolutely unavailable by any means (except cheating) at launch, then sold back to you in separate purchases later? Yeah, welcome to the early 2000s. No because I never owned Gen 1 games as a kid, and a copy of Silver. I'm glad I didn't grow up with inferior versions of these games. >and then buy a gamecube, limited editions of gamecube games, and a special gamecube gba link cable, so you could get the rest I mean these are valid complaints, limited events were also annoying, but that's why I bought an Action Replay instead of doing all of that. >Its not a meme. You are trying to force a meme that Gen 3 is on par with SW/SH and for that you are an autistic retarded faggot that should be laughed at.
>>450047 I was there when gen 3 came out and I owned gen 1 and 2 games, but you're really just being autistic. I didn't mind it back then, and I don't mind it now. Also, gen 1/2 pokemon will die out no matter what, due to them being tied to batteries, not memory data. That's why I really consider gen 3 to be the real start, due to FRLG largely replacing gen 1(which was really unpolished and broken on every level, and no amount of nostalgia goggles will help), HGSS largely doing the same with gen 2. My childhood pokemon are long dead in these games due to dead batteries, but I really don't mind. Also, if you're really that big of an autist, you can buy virtual console releases of every gen 1 and 2 games and transfer these over to gen 7 or 8 via pokebank, and even back to older gens with unofficial methods(and again, you can hook up a gameboy and transfer your old pokemon over to GBA, if you're that autistic about it)
No one would mind the dexcut if we got a good game out of it but SwSh makes Sun/Moon look competent and that game is painfully mediocre.
>>450047 >objective facts >dude I couldn't transfer for one generation so it's the same >the thing that is supposedly the same lacks post game content and other features introduced by Gen 3 Gen wunners are so autistic. I am so young and uninformed that I already was aware of the shit you are bitching about because Millennials that couldn't transfer up lamented this to me, but hardly with the same enthusiasm that you do. There are also a gorillion Pokemon series videos that explain all the major differences and flaws with the games.
>>450056 not to mention that like I said, you can transfer these pokemon thru unofficial methods, and they will work flawlessly in game. sword/shield literally does not have those pokemon, and even if you cheat them in, they will never work, as the data for them aren't even there. it's just a butthurt genwunner that doesn't know what he's talking about, what a surprise BTW, the new DP remakes also won't have all pokemon, so it's an automatic pass for me. Literally just play platinum again or get the renegade romhack if you want something new. If you want more content, sit down and learn how these engines work and make your own ROMhack, anybody can do better than gamefreak at this point
>>450034 muh 251 gorillion
>>450048 >Admits everything I said is correct, including being an underage faggot that wasnt there at the start >still tries to act like he us right though >>450053 >didn't mind it then and I don't mind it now Then you're not the type of hypocritical person I complain about. You have low standards but at least they're consistent. >dead batteries My point exactly. They could have been saved if Gamefreak didnt decide to remove backwards compatibility from gen iii >old games are bad and broken Only if you're an autistic tourneyfag. Little children could figure the games out back then. Practically every child, since the games were so damn popular. The problems people complain about are frequently so minor players back then didnt even notice they were not on purpose. >you can just rebuy the games yet again, this time digital only I mentioned this anyway. But also fuck buying the same game yet again. Pokemon was always bad with this but it just gets more ridiculous over time. >you can cheat to transfer old guys to gen 3 So it could work all along. Except they tried to remove it as a way to jew you into buying the same games they already sold up to four times each. And again, that's not the same as actually including it as a feature. It stopped the majority of their child audience from retaining their old guys, which was a key appeal of gen ii, and a key appeal of later games. The only reason I entered the thread was some guy saying he liked that aspect, until they removed it in sword and shield. I'm still butthurt about them removing it in Ruby and Sapphire. And I'm double butthurt that now that they did it again, a bunch of underage faggots who pretend it was okay last time act like it's bad now.> >450056 >post game content was introduced by gen iii Wtf? Gen II had fucking kanto as post game content. Gen iii has practically nothing by comparison. And no, the fact that kanto isnt as fleshed out as gen I isnt the point. The point is you get to catch up with old characters and locations and see how they've changed in the last 3 years. A major appeal in an rpg where exploring the world and meeting characters is a major aspect of the genre. And again, that was just one of the things gen iii removed, in addition to things like backwards compatibility, a whole bunch of pokemon, the day/night/week system, etc. But its okay when hoenn does it because that was the first one that came out after you were old enough to read. >>450057 >the data is in the game, just inaccessible through normal and legitimate means! So basically it's on disc DLC, and this makes it better somehow. You're probably so underaged that you like dlc too, you faggot.
>>450078 >So basically it's on disc DLC kek, now every Pokemon game with uncatchable Pokemon in its data has on disc DLC. But I agree that making transfers from Gen I/II to III inaccessible was bullshit.
>>450122 It is when you need to re-buy old games just to change a single bit and make available a pokemon that should have been available anyway. It goes even further than the regular trading jewishness when it's old pokemon you already caught, and in a previous game, would have been able to just trade forward.
>>450078 >Admits everything I said is correct Nope, only some of the flaw of not being able to transfer up, but you're an autistic millenial with nigger-tier reading comprehension. Otherwise you're understand that I said you were wrong about most things, especially others being mad when you are a raging sperg. >including being an underage faggot that wasnt there at the start Pokefags have no right to call anyone else underage, have some self-awareness. Oh btw gen 2 carts were a case of planned obsolescence and were useless following the dead batteries. >Only if you're an autistic tourneyfag. Little children could figure the games out back then. Practically every child, since the games were so damn popular. The problems people complain about are frequently so minor players back then didnt even notice they were not on purpose. >glaringly obvious flaws everyone noticed do not exist >Wtf? Gen II had fucking kanto as post game content. Nigger-tier reading comprehension strikes again, we're talking about Sword and Shield you fucking slimy cunt. The games that lacks content like Battle frontier and other features introduced generations ago. Hurr durr conveniently forget that you are being mocked for comparing Gen 3 and current gen.
>>450363 You can easily replace the batteries, only issue is it will wipe the save, but hypothetically this could be mitigated with connecting to Stadium 2 or something to save mons. The batteries were necessary for the game's clock to progress during time not being played iirc. I replaced mine in a copy of Crystal that made it on the originals til the mid 2010s so, it wasn't like the batteries ate shit in a year.

https://pokemon.fandom.com/wiki/Event_Pok%C3%A9mon UNDERAGE POKEMON BABIES don't even know that the problems that they bitched about like inaccessible Pokemon within the game because of events and trading bullshit have always been there. They are so young that they don't know that they were mocked for having to have access to two separate versions of the same broken shitty game for toddlers to access all of it's content! Clearly a bunch of underage faggots who pretend it was okay last time but act like it's bad now! Like normalizing the concept of buying the same fucking game twice or a cable just to get every Monster! >>450377 My copy of Silver had it's battery die in the mid 2000s and ruined my current playthrough. I have never even seen Stadium 2 let alone played it or owned an N64 or knew anyone that had these things or that I could do this at the time for that matter. I'm just glad gen 4 finally fixed the issue by tying the clock to the system and not the cart. >450379 I'd give you shit for entering a thread you don't like, but I also own both versions of more than one Pokemon generation and had to redo my post, so I guess I eat shit too.
>>450379 >good game like SMT instead of arguing about a trash franchise for kids, faggots. SMT hasn't been good since Strange Journey though.
>>450034 At least Gen III had the new stat system excuse, Sword and Shield have nothing.
>>450379 Genuine question: How many people here do you think actually pay to play Pokemon games when they come out versus those who play romhacks that avoid exactly what you're bitching about? No faggot actually gives Nintendo their money for this crap.
>>450419 I can understand you thinking that 4 and 4A is gay but the Soul Hackers remake on the 3DS is really genuinely good. It plays like a remastered version of the older SMT titles. >>450379 Even SMT has better pokemon designs than actual pokemon games nowadays. Most pokemon designs are either super simple cartoony SMOOTH baby looking creatures, plain fucking stupid or actual fucking furry bait. Hardly any pokemon looks cool or interesting anymore. Anyone who still likes pokemon in 2021 has stockholm syndrome, move the fuck on already.
>>450641 In Pokemon’s defense, the demons in SMT went through several redesigns throughout the years and most of them were pretty boring at the start, though the redesigns are really nice looking. Pokemon is the opposite where the designs began good but got worse or more forgettable.
>>450379 The posts you're complaining about already said it was bullshit to have to buy multiple versions, but it's extra bullshit to straight up have to re-buy specifically because a feature was removed that the previous sequel had. A very big part of the selling point of FireRed and LeafGreen was that you could get all these old Pokemon that everyone loved but were removed from the latest games. Gen II didn't have every old Pokemon available to catch, but they didn't make you re-buy Gen I again just so you could trade the missing Pokemon over. To pretend the situations were the same thing is completely disingenuous, and to act like this is a new complaint is simply ignorant. >>450363 >Otherwise you're understand that I said you were wrong about most things, especially others being mad when you are a raging sperg. You continue to not actually argue any points, and instead just try to insult, when you don't actually say how anything said was wrong. >Pokefags have no right to call anyone else underage, have some self-awareness. Difference between underage and developmentally stunted. I also haven't played a Pokemon game in ten years, and that was after like seven years of ignoring it after Gen III came out and ruined the franchise. Luckily it turned out Gen IV was a hell of a lot better, but V was a step down and Black 2 was too boring to make me finish or continue with the later games. At no point did I say the current games are good. I'm confident they're shit since the series has been shit for a very long time. But then I see you retards screeching about old problems as if they're new, and my hatred for Hoennbabbies reemerges anew, like it's the mid 2000s all over again. I knew back then that you were stupid underage faggots with no taste, but now I know you are also hypocrites. >Oh btw gen 2 carts were a case of planned obsolescence and were useless following the dead batteries. The battery issue sucks, but that also applies to Gens I and III, and tons of other games. As jewish as Nintendo was and is, I doubt this was planned obsolescence and moreso just using the common technique used to save games on carts, and then using it for more features as well. You know what is planned obsolescence, though? Removing backwards compatibility which the previous sequels had so that you have to re-buy old games when the previous sequels didn't make you do that. >glaringly obvious flaws everyone noticed do not exist No, most of the "mistakes" were things that most players didn't notice. Things like how Psychic reacts to Ghost, for example, could simply be interpreted as how it's supposed to work. Later we heard it was a mistake, but it's not something that would drastically affect someone playing, again unless that person is a tourneyfag. The game is perfectly playable, and millions of children got through it just fine. They didn't find it unplayable. That you did just makes you look dumber than a child. >Nigger-tier reading comprehension strikes again, we're talking about Sword and Shield you fucking slimy cunt. No, you have nigger-tier reading comprehension. You said Gen III introduced post-game content. >>450056 >the thing that is supposedly the same lacks post game content and other features introduced by Gen 3 >post game content and other features introduced by Gen 3 You were saying post game content was a feature introduced by Gen 3. A ridiculous claim. >>450634 A poor excuse considering other Gens also introduced changes to how stats work and were still backwards compatible, and Gen I was later made forward compatible with later games, but you had to buy a digital copy of it. It's a simple matter and they could have done the same conversion then, without making you buy a new copy.
Black/White 2 was the last good pokemon game, prove me wrong.
>>450717 As far as mainline goes, I agree, though if we count spinoffs, the last new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game they released was pretty darn good.
>>450686 >V was a step down and Black 2 was too boring to make me finish or continue with the later games. Gen V was actually a step up in most regards. I blame the response to Gen V for the state of Pokemon today. The outrage about ice cream and garbage Pokemon caused GameFreak to panic and rely on previously popular designs in every subsequent game. Its immediately apparent in the next generation when they nostalgia bait the player with a free Kanto starter and Lucario like they're terrified you won't like the new Pokemon. >>450717 True.
>>450641 >I can understand you thinking that 4 and 4A is gay but the Soul Hackers remake on the 3DS is really genuinely good. It plays like a remastered version of the older SMT titles. Soul Hackers is good but they have put more bad Megaten titles than good titles. It's similar to Pokemon in that both went to shit when the 3DS released, also shit like Demeter, Zeus and Odin are more worse than any Pokemon designs nowadays.
>>437994 >Still, I'm quite impressed how Game Freak continues to fuck up, yet people keep buying their shit. Nintendo bros are autistic manchildren, especially those who play pokemon. Dawn is cute though and I loved gen 4 so I will buy it even if it's mediocre.
>>450803 Why would you reward them with mediocrity? Platinum will remain superior to BDSP no matter what so it's better to replay that instead.
>>450814 You have a point. I just heard that you could dress up Dawn in this game which is the main thing that intrigued me. Either way, I shouldn't buy it, I should just pirate it probably.
>>450781 >The outrage about ice cream and garbage Pokemon caused GameFreak to panic and rely on previously popular designs in every subsequent game. I liked the Pokedex in Gen V. Specifically how it left out all of the old Pokemon until the postgame, instead of doing a random mix and match. Having a whole new 150, without constantly reminding me of some of the old ones, but not allowing me to get or see all of them, was nice. I hate how Gens III and IV (even though I like Gen IV a lot) have random pokemon from previous gens, but not all. I hate running into Tentacools all the fucking time but then Pidgey or whatever is not counted as part of the (regional) Pokedex. Either give me all new or include all the old and build on top of it. Obviously the latter is better, which is why Gen II is the best one, but I'll take the way V does it over III and IV. But the real reason I don't like V as much as IV is because I was very disappointed with the postgame and overall amount of content. The map is a big circle, but the whole right side of the circle is barren and has practically nothing to do compared to the left side. And the left side wasn't particularly full of content either, but I was figuring I was only like halfway through the content, only to find that no, I was like 80% through it. Compared to the tons and tons of content in Gen IV, I was left disappointed. Black and White 2 was lame because if you want to get a full enjoyment out of it, you need to play Black and White 1 first, but if you do, then you'll be repeating so much of the same stuff when you play Black and White 2 that it makes Black and White 2 boring. Revisiting Kanto in Gen II was fun as bonus content, in addition to a lot more new stuff, but if you booted up Gen II and started in Pallet Town and followed the same path through most of the game, it would have been boring, even if it was still cool to see how things have changed since the last game. It's a shame, because I can see it's a big improvement over Black and White in many regards, including my problems with the map from its predecessor, but the way it's set up is self defeating.
>>450803 Man I'd impregnate Dawn.
>>450686 >A poor excuse considering other Gens also introduced changes to how stats work and were still backwards compatible, and Gen I was later made forward compatible with later games, but you had to buy a digital copy of it. It's a simple matter and they could have done the same conversion then, without making you buy a new copy. That "conversion" was stupid, randomly generating nature, and IVs and (IIRC) actually deleting EVs. It pretty much generates the Pokemon from scratch. Sword and Shield still has zero excuse for not allowing Pokemon transfer.

The more huge and open world maps a game has, the denser actual gameplay content has to exist. Otherwise it will just be a big dead bloop of shit.
So it looks like Apricorn Voltorb (grass/electric type) happened, which was something I posted in a previous thread about being a probable regional variant given Game Freak's tendency to revisit gen 1 designs, particularly those they haven't done a new evolution, pre-evolution, mega, or gigantamax form for and its appropriateness for the region.
>>495326 I hope the Hisuian Electrode has variants for each apricot ball. Some decoration and an exclusive move (like grass knot for heavy ball version) each would be great.
>>495326 I love delta types. I approve of more of them. I'd just really like gamefreak to retcon its piles and piles of mechanics and clean things up. They never will, of course. The franchise would have to be ripped from them and given to someone else. I want fourth evolutions. I want some stone evolutions to be fixed because of later-gen additions to evolutionary lines. I'm tired of them abandoning depthful content as a single-generational gimmick.

Why do any of you even care? The Pokémon games aren't good, they're made for children and have largely the same formula as the ones from the 90s did. It's like being upset a new Hello Kitty game isn't great. You might be right but it's fucking Hello Kitty, why are you playing it in the first place
>>497327 Anon, some people out there actually want "more of the same" from their sequels, given the number of people who complain about sequels that aren't like the old games. The formula for these games is pretty robust, since they can just churn out new pokemon and locations and some generic anime characters, and maybe introduce a new mechanic every game or so, slap the brand new game on the ass and send it out into the world to make money. The anons playing the games now probably started on one of the first couple of sets of games. They know what to expect and what they're getting, and even if they're vocally unhappy about it, there they are playing them. You could also suggest that they're trying to establish video-game-emotional connections with the characters so that the porn is more satisfying, but I'm not sure I buy that.
A reminder that Diamond and Pearl were released closer to Red/Green than the present day.

>>514581 Ìt totally did, but I'm guessing that that one was a little before that anon's time.
>>514589 >There are no actual humans like us in the Pokemon universe. Cofagrigus for example is just a ghost of a human that has possessed a sarcophagus. These two sentences have nothing to do with each other. You act as if the latter proves the former but it doesn't. Unless you're so autistic you think that any series that has ghosts as a concept means that the people in that series aren't "actual humans like us" because you don't believe in ghosts. Yeah, they're not "actual humans like us," they're cartoons. No shit. But they're still humans. Now, if you wanted to say that humans are just another form of Pokemon that happens to have an Ability that makes them immune to Pokeballs, then fine. That's pretty cool headcanon.

>>515006 >humans are just another form of Pokemon that happens to have an Ability that makes them immune to Pokeballs That's the headcanon I like to stick to. It's also fitting that they turn into their counter type when they die.
