What would a GOOD remake/enhanced port of a game change about a particular game? Anonymous 11/28/2021 (Sun) 07:28:56 Id: d5fc92 No. 479349
Video game remakes, especially modern ones, tend to suck and have no idea what made the original game good and making random changes while the additions are relatively pointless. What games do you think could actually benefit from a remake with relatively minor changes? Hard Mode: Not just modern interface/controls and actually working on modern machines. Baten Kaitos >Nipponese VA by default and no distorted audio in stereo >time based magus changes longer than a 5 hours are based on real time instead of game time >lower the number of missable items, especially on disc one >add the wing dash and instant ladders from the sequel >improve the element variety of Lyude and Sylvana's magus so they're not stuck with two contradictory elements >buff non-weapon magus so they're more than novelties Breath of Fire II >new translation (duh) >add the dragon gene system found in III because BoF2 Ryu is super boring >this also allows adds more stuff to fill out all the empty sections in dungeons >make shamans obtainable earlier so the system matters before just the final few dungeons >make the solo sten segment less of a hell if he's not leveled up when you enter it >make Patty join the party when you reach the final dungeon >buff Aspara, Tapeta and Sten >make Bosche and Rand more distinct MS Saga >Large Energy Cores are no longer finite >the MSes you get from story don't make all the ones you can build useless >After War content because how the fuck do you have a post-apoc Gundam game with this power level and suits from multiple timelines and not include After War? Metroid Prime >make it so Samus's ship can take her between Landing Site, Phendrana Shorelines, and Main Quarry after being visited once (ala Prime 3) >aqua drone respawns Fire Emblem 9/10 >enemy turns play out faster >add a bonus chapter to DB in 10 to fix their broken ass XP curve >buff most of the DB Literally every Infinity/Aurora/Odyssey Engine game except Jade Empire and The Witcher >turn based combat Literally every game in those engines >less filler mobs Pic unrelated.

How's Watamote doing nowadays with the dyke harem thingy? Hard to believe our girl went from outcast to full blown yuri harem MC.
>>479thre You just wanted an excuse to post that gif from the meta thread, you don't give a shit about this thrad topkek
It's additional content but I think it's minor enough not to break the theme of the OP. In Ys Origin you can unlock Adol for an arena mode/boss rush but not play him in the actual campaign. I just want a tiny remake or an update to Origins that lets you play as Adol in any of the campaigns or perhaps his own, since the major differences between campaigns are the gameplay differences between the characters and the "demon traitor" bossfights. >>479351 I honestly think OP just wanted to post that page but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. >>479369 In his defense it's a very mesmerizing gif.
I hate that they turned tomoko into a dyke.
>>479349 How about just NO ? And tunneling all that energy from masturbating about fixing old game into making something new instead?
I was going to participate in this thread, but clearly the user base of this board is too fucking stupid to provoke discussion and would rather shut down this thread because it... shouldn't exist and have killed a dead thread. Or something. Honestly, forums are looking better and better nowadays. At least I can peg the blatant retards forever and disregard anything they say before reading it. Here I have to actually read the post and realize it's the same fat, stupid asshole from some other thread that pissed me off with his lust for controlling the board. That being said, there are good remakes. FF1 & 2 for the PS1/GBA are good examples. You have a graphical update that actually makes things look better, bug fixes, and a few QoL features get implemented. Back in the day, getting a song remade typically entailed more detail and quality. Compare to the FFX remake, where most of the music is the same as before but with extra shit on top of it for no reason. For an NES or SNES game that might be fine, but for something Squeenix bought a fucking orchestra for? Retarded.

>>479351 Frank and Hisen-ko make a cute couple.
>>479595 >Honestly, forums are looking better and better nowadays. Clearly, you haven;t looked very hard. You know how they say the grass is greener on the other side and shit? Difference is, the whittled grass here is fine because you're hallucinating a jungle on the other side's toxic wasteland full of shit. However, aside from hypotheticals, I'll have to decline in any effort when it comes to remakes as well these days. It's not even the fear of pozz, some companies these days just straight up fuck up plainly when it comes to remaking stuff. Look at Ys Celceta for example compared to Ys 1+2 or Felghana. And sadly, not even enhanced ports or enhanced versions with minor QoL are safe anymore. Compare Atlus' Strange Journey Redux and Soul Hackers(portable ports) for example and it's fucking night and day when it comes to the quality of these two. I do wish we had more options to do custom soundtrack these days like with the PSP games, some of the fan-made tracks that were new arrangements of NES and SNES music are amazing at least S.S.H. and some of his fellow Hellion Sounds members did get some actual work in the industry
>>479625 Celceta being shit is just a larger part of Falcom no longer knowing how to make a decent combat system anymore. I can't speak for Trails because turn based JRPG isn't my cup of tea but Ys has been on the massive decline for quite a while now and I doubt anything but a major gameplay style shift and a purging of the current dev team is going to fix it.
>>479609 >>479351 Damn this is some massive blue tits.
>>479397 I don't think she is, which is even worse
(99.45 KB 616x353 Dank Souls.jpg)

>>479637 >Celceta being shit is just a larger part of Falcom no longer knowing how to make a decent combat system anymore. It's shit because the culture around remakes shifted to an unmitigated extreme around that time and because the hardware was pushed as the main draw for why you should buy games, instead of the other way around. Remember the Vita came out the same gen as the 3DS, the flagship consoles when it came to "the console exists, therefore you HAVE to buy it and wait for its games" that PS4 and XseX did a thousand times worse. I can't really fault Falcom entirely for their decisions given what has actually brought them money but you can easily see the gradual turn from passion projects and tight knit company with nice ideas to corporate whores due to the current climate surrounding vidya companies. At least they haven't completed the package by sucking Tencent's cock to my knowledge at least, I won't be able to handle it if they do or did The only way for a lot of those older vidya studios, especially some of the cornerstone studios that didn't make it as big as Ninty, Sega, SE, Namco etc, to get better and go back to how good they were is for either the whole fucking system to collapse and stop being mainstream or for these studios to take a more laid-back approach and develop exclusively for PC and doujin markets again. By cutting ties with the normalniggers and the investors they hang out with, a lot of the problems are fixed. And to go back to Celceta, even if let's say, they abandoned the party mechanic entirely and they went with a Felghana / Origins style of gameplay, it would still be cancer because it has a myriad other problems that arise from a demand in a market that invaded their turf in the first place. Just ask the average normalnigger what Ys game they've played on PC whenever Steam has a sale and they always default to Ys 8, Celceta and 9 and maybe Ys Origins because some jewtuber meme or something and they never touched it. All the while, the previous Ys games go completely untouched and they constantly screech about more "quality Ys games" while some masterpiece like Xanadu Next goes unnoticed. To bring it back to Atlus and Strange Journey since I've been on a small JRPG high this few weeks, when Strange Journey came out, everyone fucking hated it in the west and meme'd it to be so hard it kills you IRL and shit, having absolutely shit endings try and guess if the endings were actually dogshit or if the normalfags were braindead retards so when Redux came out, the difficulty dropped, you could be super overpowered from early game, the game added waifus, new endings that the normalfags loved and more "accessible" options regarding the dungeon crawling. Simply because they bought a game that was a "side series to Persona". <tl;dr : Remove normalniggers from gaming, remove investorshit and Tencent and we can have good (Ys) games again.

>>479658 That's weird, my image was fucked.
>>479349 >What would a GOOD remake/enhanced port of a game change about a particular game? Preferably, nothing. The ONLY change that "should" be made is having additional content. And, even then, the content should have the option to either be unlocked or disabled.
The iOS/android remakes of the original sonic games are great. You can play the games faithfully but they have widescreen and the fmvs in sonic CD arent Sega CD low quality windowed stuff. You can play as Knuckles in sonic 2, which should be standard, but they also made it so tails can control like in sonic 3, and made both of them playable in sonic 1 as well. My only major thought that they left out was knuckles in sonic CD. And now apparently they're finally doing a similar remake for sonic 3. Let's see how they fuck it up.
>>479680 Have any of them gotten ports outside mobile-shit other then CD?
>>479812 No, but apparently there is a collection announced that will include all of them and also 3&k.
>>479367 As far as I'm concerned Watamote stopped having a reason to exist once Tomoko made some friends. That was always going to be the ending point, Tomoko achieves her goal and gets her happy ending. It got stale before that though, so maybe that's why they went with the change. I haven't read it in like 5 years but from the bits I see posted it barely even seems like the same premise any more. I notice in that OP pic Tomoko doesn't even have bags under her eyes. The thing should have ended years ago, because what they seem to be churning out now is basically the afterstory to an ending that already happened.
>>479976 OP is supposed to be Tomoko?

>>479976 >>480036 Honestly it should of done a time skip into her 20s. Her being a neet or, some other dead end job then suddenly realizing she's wasting her life and struggling to dig her way out of it. Basically Kurosawa, and it's sequel where he gets out of his 8 year coma and becomes a hobo.
>>480044 wait, what? Sequel? Holy shit is it good?
>>480062 Not really. Some people really pretend it doesn't exist.
>>480062 It's ok. It is an unintentional comedy due to how retarded the situation with the homeless is in Japan which is like a thousand times better than your average western homeless guy but still and Kurosawa being a man out of time due to his coma brings forth some nice levity to his situation. It's nowhere near as good as the first one but you should have always expected that Kurosawa survived given that Fukumoto basically nudged Watanabe's comments about Spike dying at the dying of Cowboy Bebop but Kurosawa survives and due to the Kaiji second anime opening that Fkmt approved.

>>479367 >>479976 I'll be honest, the manga was so stale and repetitive by the end, it changing to get characters interested into Tomoko while she's still being autistic was the right move. Most new parts are more funny than the previous ones, I'd say it's improved.

>>480745 Anon please, we have gone down this path before. Remember Net-juu?
>>480880 At this point I have more faith in chink devs than nip devs.
>>479349 >What would a GOOD remake/enhanced port of a game change about a particular game? Just make it more compatible with modern hardware and that's it so it's not a bitch and a half to run, no need to anything else. Only snobs care about "Muh Gayphrics!!" if the game was good back then no reason it can't be good today as is.
>>480988 What about muh Gaymeplay? Because playing LoK: Blood Omen so far I feel everything's perfect except the gameplay and how short the music loops are.
>>480988 Remake projects are slippery slopes. There's always the temptation to fix "obvious" bugs, for slowly-expanding definitions of "obvious." Then there are things that are either difficult or impossible (taking into account the competence of the devs and how comprehensive is their knowledge of the original game's systems) to implement in exactly the same way. Subtle game play changes are accepted for the sake of releasing something even if it's not exactly how the original played. Then there's implementing features that weren't complete or that were complete but weren't enabled for various reasons with the justification "but the developers tried/actually did do this." Then there'll be people who argue that some misbehavior or outright bug that everyone loves should be fixed just because it's a bug or "not what the original developers wanted"--that "preserving the vision of the original developers" canard is a sword that cuts both ways. Finally, you and I will almost certainly never see the internal deliberations of the developers. They may start off saying that they're only going to make the game work with modern systems and then end up sliding down through bugfixes and into outright rebalancing territory. Early internal versions might be created with the intent to make unfaithful features or changes optional, and then someone will point out that it's hard to keep all those changes optional and more efficient and less buggy not to have to support that feature. This is all empty speculation, sure, but it's easy to understand and envision how even a dev group with honest good intentions could seduce themselves into generating a bad remake.
>>480931 >TORpedofucker tries to make a point about nipland being "based and pure" <Just proves my point further I know bots and retards have about the same level of intelligence at this point but it would help if you could read. >>480936 >Chink devs <Not taiwanese devs that historically have done better Come on now. >>481071 Anon, all LoK games are good, but they play like shit. They are the vidya equivalent of a Tarkovsky movie.
>>481079 Ah shit. Oh well, Vae Victus, this music and VA is too good to pass up.
(527.15 KB 658x1000 raziel atop a ruined pillar.jpg)

>>481082 LoK has the whole package, best VA in all of vidya, great setting, story, character design, but it drops the ball in gameplay, wich is incredibly sad because otherwise they would be 10/10 games.
>>481071 Soul Reaver 1 is probably the only one that's also fun, but they're all worth playing.
>>481097 Eh id say defiance is better.
>>481097 >>481100 Defiance is certainly better. The problem with Soul Reaver 1, and to a lesser extend 2, is that you are discouraged to fight the enemies. In 1, after you get the Reaver, your health will always be at max, but the moment you get hit by an enemy, your health will constantly deplete, unless you can bring it up to max, by absorbing the souls of the enemies, as such you have two options: 1. Run away from enemies and keep your health at max 2. Attack the enemy, and risk taking more damage, than the amount of health you got from it's soul, thus "forcing" you to seek another enemy to fight, repeating the process, until you have your health back at max Obviously option 1 is preferable, especially since the combat wasn't all that fun. In 2, you had more forced encounters, and the combat was a bit more fluid, so it wasn't as bad.

>>483980 >wishing such terrible fate upon tomoko
>>480765 I don't think it got stale, it just went full spaghetti and a lot of normalfags couldn't handle it, the problem is that the manga was always meant to be this awkward, you must remember that this thing got a lot of attention from /v/ spergs who read the first chapter and went "holy shit that's literally me", then decided to support the mangaka by importing itand sending dick picks as encouragement, in fact the mangaka herself said the only reason her shit didn't get cancelled after 10 chapters was because the west massively boosted the sales of her manga. However she decided to listen to people who didn't support her from the very beginning, and thus tomoko eventually stopped shitting herself whenever interacting with her classmates, it got to the point that she went out of her way to befriend the awkward lesbo that sits beside her, then drag her to a fucking karaoke to deepen their friendship. Tomoko stopped being tomoko after she got back from the school trip.

(110.29 KB 1280x720 maxresdefault.jpg)

>>480062 Eeeeeeeh frankly the beginning of the sequel is one of the worst pieces of graphic novel I've ever read. It kind of gets better once Kurosawa moves in with some homeless dudes but for some reason Fukumoto started going all in with the fucking nip-styled comedy and it never lands. Supposedly there's like a six volumes long part about Kurosawa exposing a phoney martial artist, which looks much more in line with old Kurosawa, but it never got translated and I can't really be bothered to look for the originals. Honestly, only good FKMT series of the past couple of years has been the one about Tonegawa and his adventures poking fun at FKMT himself (but apparently he's not the author or something?) Masayan (Chairman Hyodo's doppleganger) becoming an Akagi ripoff was probably one of the funniest things I've read so far >>480745 There's a chapter in the anthology books with Tomoko as a OL, but this was done like way earlier than the school trip arc

>>483929 >>483998 >fuck nu-Watamote, I didn't waste four years of chapters just to get Sex and the City with teenagers Speaking of which. Did you know sex and the city has a fan wiki more detailed and active than most 80s/90s era cartoons, animes and mangas and video games? I remember when old 8 /v/ use to raid fan wiki pages of Gone home and call of duty wikis early days of the exodus. Samantha Jones <Biography >Samantha Jones is a fictional character on the HBO produced television series. She is portrayed by actress Kim Cattrall. Character >Samantha is one of four single friends portrayed in the series. Of the four, she is the most sexually promiscuous, and most of her storylines revolve around the frequent sex she has. She is confident, strong, outspoken, and a self-proclaimed "try-sexual" (meaning she'll try anything once). >Samantha is the oldest of the four friends (in season 6, she reveals she is "forty five"), and she owns her own public-relations company. Not much is known about Samantha's younger years, except that she came from more of a working class background, and she spent most of her teenage years selling Dilly bars at Dairy Queen to earn pocket money. >Season 3 implies that she has at least two siblings, when she mentions that at her age her mother "was saddled with three kids and a drunk husband." She later mentions partying at Studio 54 during its heyday, implying she moved sometime in the mid to late-1970s from wherever she grew up to New York City. >It is revealed in SATC2 that she met Carrie in 1986 or 1987 whilst working as a barmaid, and wore Whitesnake-esque glamrock, 80's clothes with a blonde perm. She has mentioned having had at least two abortions, one of which occurred while living in the college dormitories. >She also (presumably) was the youngest of the four main characters to lose her virginity. While she never comments on her exact age when this happened, she references having sex with a guy as early as 13, simply because "he had a swimming pool," and she implies that this was not her first sexual partner. >In the early part of the series, she lives on the Upper East Side, but ends up moving to an expensive apartment in the Meatpacking District, after one of her late-night visitors lets in a mugger who attacks one of her older female neighbors. >One of Samantha's best qualities is her loyalty to her friends. When Carrie confesses to her that she's having an affair with her married ex-boyfriend "Mr. Big," and is cheating on her own boyfriend, Aidan, as well, Samantha tells her that judging is not her style, and offers her support. Although she fights with Charlotte a few times, they always manage to get past their differences and make up. >Despite having trouble adjusting to Miranda having a child, she willingly gives up a coveted hair appointment and sends Miranda in her place, staying behind to babysit and give her friend a much-needed break. >In the show's last season, Samantha is diagnosed with breast cancer. She faces the challenge head-on, playing with her look by wearing outrageous wigs, hats, and headscarves after she loses her hair to chemotherapy. >In one of the final episodes, she gives a speech for a cancer benefit dinner, and receives a standing ovation for removing her wig onstage and admitting that she was suffering with hot flashes. The audience appreciated her candor and honesty, and many of the women in the audience stood up and removed their own wigs. https://archive.ph/SjPjB Sex and the City Season 1, Episode 11 The Drought <Episode Synopsis >After weeks sharing a bed, Carrie feels comfortable actually sleeping with Mr. Big, yet mortified when she farts in bed, but really worried when he stops to want sex every night. >It really hits her when he prefers to watch a boxing match to kissing, so she paints her apartment. Miranda tells Carrie to be herself and feels she's worse off not having had anyone for three months, but how often is normal? Samantha is horny for her hunky yoga instructor Siddharta, who claims to practice Bhramacharya, Tantric celibacy, since 3 years, yet still gets hard-ons. >Charlotte tells Carrie to be happy, her boyfriend Kevin didn't even kiss in three weeks, takes it as an aphrodisiac that he's Carrie's ex from three years ago and a sex maniac, but then learns he has given up sex to cure his former bad temper by Prozac, indeed even a hand-job has no result. Carrie's neighbors, who frequently have amazingly long, naked sex in front of the open window, are a spectacle for the envious quartet, and inspire Mr. Big. https://archive.ph/1nhSo

The anime adaptation is genuinely good as well, watch it if only for the ungodly noises tomoko's VA makes. >>484504 Kek at this point nothing surprises me anymore, there's also an extremely long smash brothers fanfiction that holds the record for the longest piece of written media or something like that, and the author isn't just phoning it in, dude has a semi-coherent story that people have compiled on wikis, iirc it also has the record for most crossovers.
What the hell is Sex and The City even about? A bunch of yuppie women trying to fuck a city?
>>484881 It's basically the first instance of television media normalizing sexual promiscuity in women. It's pretty boring shit.

>>484967 What the fuck
>>484503 I think so, yes. The original pitch for the manga was pretty much a shitpost, anyhow, and it never gets mentioned at any point. According to the Watamote synopsis, Tomoko has like centuries of experience dating men in VNs and it was apparently supposed to be her character trait, a chuunibyou who grapples with reality trying to find herself friends and eventually a date. It's dropped like right after a few chapters where now her main motivation is becoming a normalfag while hating pretty much anything and everything about being a normalfag, with a lot of emphasis on how this cognitive dissonance just pushes her more and more to be a loner the more she attempts to use what little she read from the internet about being a normal person. I don't think the mangakas really had any plans to do anything with her other than trying and expanding into a western market, and that is what makes this whole thing even more upsetting. >>484504 Yeah, I've seen random fanwikis having an obscene amount of content and effort poured into them, whether ironically or legitimately (while some mainstream shit is barely even documented). What's even more interesting is that there's millions of communities about mainstream or obscure shit and you'll never know about them unless you go out of your way to join them. For instance, some dudes found out that the most popular show of the 2020-21 years is not one of the very highly advertised big hitters, but some random group of series about a woman fucking other men, harmony style. And if you'd go and look for them, plenty of facebook communities would gush and talk about this shit. >>484716 Wikipedia has zero standards, plenty of Eastern European movies have the entire plot badly google translated and no one bothers to modify them.

>>484711 What gets me isn't how long that is, it's that it's even properly formatted. >>484800 It's to avoid saying "post school trip arc", because 1) it's long and repetitive and 2) that arc itself was not even that bad, it's everything that came after that fucked the series over >>484803 >What the fuck did he even mean with this post? You're telling me that the biggest westaboo ever STILL isn't fluid in english? Or does he post in engrish because it's funny? Never forget about David-kun >The anime adaptation is genuinely good as well, watch it if only for the ungodly noises tomoko's VA makes. It also has a more in-character, satisfying ending than the actual manga. Btw that guy lost the record for longest piece of lit to some other fanfic which was not nearly as interesting I recall
>>479367 I have no fucking idea, it stopped being funny during the school trip arc.
>>484024 I recall some post or interview with the author, and she said those dick pics were the first time she had seen a penis. I'm not sure I could provide a source for that, I mostly just remember /v/ getting mad and blaming /a/ for sending the pictures and ruining the mangaka's purity.
>>485940 Other way around, /a/ got mad at /v/ for sending dick pics, not because they """ruined her purity""" but rather because they thought she'd think it was a death threat and cancel the manga. >first time seeing a penis Yeah no, hell, she probably had to suck a dick or twenty to get her work published in the first place.
>>486087 >Other way around, /a/ got mad at /v/ for sending dick pics, not because they """ruined her purity"" >Tomoko >Purity Realistically Tomoko probably doesn’t have a hymen anymore because the manga implied she used his hold objects as dildos.

The problem with remakes is that games that get them mostly don't need them. Worthwhile remakes are mostly games that haven't aged well, while the games that are popular enough to get remade still hold up in their original form. Games that push hardware limits are usually good candidates. Usually pulling off something the hardware normally can't do forces concessions elsewhere, and going back over something like that with hardware that doesn't have to make the same tradeoffs can make some really enjoyable results. I don't think I need to explain how nice Starfox 64 is compared to the original. Blaster Master Zero is another great remake, adding lots of quality of life changes and having bosses in both top down and side-scrolling areas where on the NES they were all in the top-down dungeons because they were rendered using the background layer.
>>479595 Speaking of Peter Dinklage. Why does everybody like this midget? He looks down on a everyone when he could’ve been the bigger man. >Peter Dinklage says 'Game of Thrones' fans were upset about the finale because 'they wanted the pretty white people to ride off into the sunset >Peter Dinklage said to The New York Times that fans should "move on" after the "GOT" finale. >Dinklage said he didn't know why people were so obsessed with who would eventually take the throne. >I don't know why that was their takeaway because the show really was more than that," he said. >Peter Dinklage didn't hold back in a recent interview with The New York Times when it was brought up that "Game of Thrones" fans were let down by the show's finale. >They wanted the pretty white people to ride off into the sunset together," Dinklage, who played Tyrion Lannister on the show, told the newspaper. >By the way, it's fiction," he added with a laugh. Some fans were so upset by its final season that they launched a Change.org petition pleading for HBO to redo the entire season. >The show subverts what you think, and that's what I love about it," Dinklage, who won four best-supporting-actor Emmys over the show's eight seasons, told The Times. >Yeah, it was called 'Game of Thrones,' but at the end, the whole dialogue when people would approach me on the street was, 'Who's going to be on the throne?' >I don't know why that was their takeaway because the show really was more than that," he added. >dragons in it. Weiss. >They constantly did that, where you thought one thing and they delivered another," he said. "Everybody had their own stories going on while watching that show, but nobody's was as good as what the show delivered, I think." >Dinklage also said he felt audiences were angry about how the show ended because the show was simply coming to an end in general. >They were angry at us for breaking up with them," he said. "We were going off the air, and they didn't know what to do with their Sunday nights anymore. They wanted more, so they backlashed about that." >We had to end when we did because what the show was really good at was breaking preconceived notions: Villains became heroes, and heroes became villains," he added. >If you know your history, when you track the progress of tyrants, they don't start off as tyrants. I'm talking about, spoiler alert, what happened at the end of 'Game of Thrones' with that character change," he said, hinting at a brutal scene with Daenerys. >It's gradual, and I loved how power corrupted these people," Dinklage said. "What happens to your moral compass when you get a taste of power? >Human beings are complicated characters, you know?" >While fans were upset about the finale, there is more "Game of Thrones" on the horizon. >The HBO series "House of the Dragon" will take place about 200 years before the events of "Game of Thrones" and is set around the Targaryen civil war, known as the Dance of the Dragons. >The series, which will premiere next year, will star Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D'Arcy, and Steve Toussaint. https://archive.ph/0VS06

>>500094 >>500110 Did you mean to post these in the vidya lounge or GG thread or something?
>>500173 Not every day you can make fun of midgets and sex and the city at the same time.
>>499964 >Does plebbit count as a forum? If one's extremely gay. It counts as a knock-off imageboard with twitter tacked-on features and it is as homosexual and heretic as it sounds. >>500048 >Blaster Master Zero Oh you poor tornigger. But you are correct in everything else.
>>500194 No, it's closer to a forum than an imageboard, it's mostly text and there are no inline images to be posted, at most there might be an OP image but that's usually it, people can hyperlink images but it's definitely not an imageboard Even forums can have those
>>500252 I'm pretty sure even forums have inline images at this point in time, only reddit and social media don't have that. It's why I included the "twitter tacked-on features".
>>500288 What tacked on twitter features does it have?
>>500302 Shit like "likes/thumbs up" and the whole reddit like/reddit gold that works like twatter shadowban system based on what's trending, a "trending pages" king of thing depending on the subreddit and last time I checked, they even had a "twitter feed" like section for a user's posts instead of how you'd normally see the user posts being displayed in other forums. That's on the top of my head.
>>500354 What? Twitter is such an arbitrary thing to compare it to when literally all social media, including most forums, have likes. Reddit likes and gold has literally nothing to do with twitter shadowbans. Reddit gold is basically giving someone a gold star, paying reddit for the privilege of a special button next to the post. Likes are irrelevant. Shadowbans on reddit completely hide your post on a subreddit, unable to be seen by anyone and generally shadowbans happen on a mod by mod basis (think of it like being banned on a board of an imageboard's list). Shadowbans on twitter just reduce your reach generally, or make it so you can't be seen easily in a search or replies, but they don't hide your post completely. They call it "throttling". Twitter's shadowbans are different from what you're referring to, where they censor a topic manually. Trending pages literally exist across all social media as well. Youtube, Facebook, social media, news sites, etc Twitter is mostly completely different from reddit except on bare basics that are common to most social media, like likes for example. Reddit is more focused on being part of a crowd and specific communities through text-based interactions congregating around specific topics or memes, twitter is individual-focused through their profile customization and emphasis, reacting through images and videos, high posting velocity through small text limits, and almost a "blog-style" type shit. Reddit is more like a forum with less individuality, twitter is more like... I don't know. Its its own thing.
>>500359 >Twitter is such an arbitrary thing to compare it to when literally all social media, including most forums, have likes. <The only forums I've still frequent haven't given in to likes <Fucking gayfags of all things doesn't have likes I hate this timeline >Shadowbans on reddit completely hide your post on a subreddit, unable to be seen by anyone and generally shadowbans happen on a mod by mod basis (think of it like being banned on a board of an imageboard's list). They fucking changed it? I remember years ago when bitching about shadowbanning across various sites happened, not necessarily at the start of GG, a little before, that it worked like twitter's and later even youtubers noted that by winter of 2015 or something. >Trending pages literally exist across all social media as well. Youtube, Facebook, social media, news sites, etc Eh fair, maybe I should have said "tacked on social media features" then. >Reddit is more focused on being part of a crowd and specific communities through text-based interactions congregating around specific topics or memes, That's why I made the comparisson to imageboards, since you could create a board for whatever interest you wanted before reddit and later a mass number of forums decided it was cool to do so. The only other forum I vaguely remember doing anything similar was Neofag for the VIPs and later Gamefaqs with its "universe" board for some brief period of time. Before reddit came to prominence, I don't remember much of the forums I visited going <Hey members, yoday we're adding a politics and Formula 1 boards on our Super Sentai forum because user c0cks4ck3r69_yourmum decided he wanted to make them and mod them
