>An episode of Marvel’s 616, the Disney Plus documentary series which explores various aspects of Marvel’s history, has revealed that Dan Slott’s poor work discipline has garnered him a less-than-favorable reputation among his fellow Marvel creators >Following the premiere of this episode on the streaming service, creators involved in its production took to Twitter to defend Slott from fan criticism being levelled at him based on the behaviors and anecdotes seen on display in the documentary, claiming that the episode’s contents were dramatized in order to make it more appealing to audiences. I'm amazed Disney hasn't canned him yet, he's either working pennies on the dollar or loves playing the saxophone for the mouse. https://archive.is/qXuH1

>>7514 >I'm amazed Disney hasn't canned him yet, he's either working pennies on the dollar or loves playing the saxophone for the mouse. Main reason Slott has work is because of nepotism in the comics industry. That's how hacks like Slott, Rucka, and Bendis have been around for so long and are constantly promoted despite people's dwindling interest in them. They are also getting by thanks to their successes two decades ago.
>>7518 With all the firings going around, they shouldve been replaced with college interns months back.

Halloween is over. Hopefully many had trick or treaters this year. Though assuredly you have left over candy aplenty. But since the season of spooks is now over & we face the true horrors tomorrow come the election, why not skip right to the Christmas festivities? Starting with Klaus. Grant Morrison's attempt of creating an origin & mythology for the jolly fat man in red.

Onyx Equinox Anonymous 06/30/2020 (Tue) 01:18:23 No. 2315 [Reply]
So a few months back Crunchyroll announced they'd be producing their own set of shows for their platform, one of them being a straight up anime production, being an adaption of the Tower of God manga, and the others being western animation. Most of them seemed pretty meh, but one in particular seemed to garner the most attention, which is Onyx Equinox, which said to be an adult-action series influenced by Mesoamerican (Aztec, Maya, etc) culture. Recently the first major trailer just dropped: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVBAOJIi6Tg Thoughts? Also, as somebody who intos Mesoamerican stuff and previously did a breakdown of the trailer on halfchan, I'll repost there here in the replies. I've noticed way more stuff since then but I don't have time right now to update and expand it.

>>7528 Well then fair enough, but then I guess there's no way for you to give the episode a watch, at least untill there's an episode rip. And if you don't care about the show to begin with, then why are you wasting your time in this thread?
Oh fuck me I thought auto-refresh was enabled by default and the red circle meant it was on, not that it was off. >>7531 They're possessing human bodies, over the course of the scene you slowly see the bodies decay and morph into the god's form as seen in the progression in the concept art until the bodies decay and erode away entirely. Also for you and >>7529 re: the crunchyroll link, again: No rips so far, for now the CR site is the only way to watch it, even if you don't give a shit about supporting it. >>7530 Yes, as I pointed out in >>2317, it nails the architectural and clothing designs, and Mesoamerican archtecture (at least the palaces, noble villas, temples, etc) were covered in nice brick and then clean stucco, not the roughe stones and mortars you see in Mexican/Guatemalan ruins toiday; and then also painted, with fine relifs, sculptural facades, etc; and people wore fine clothing with cloaks and blouses with complx floral and geometric patterns, not just people walking around near naked with big feather headdreesews (though that did happen to, to an extent) Again, don't have time to do a full breakdown right now, yet, though.

Wonder Woman 1984 kills theaters with HBOMax same day release Anonymous 11/19/2020 (Thu) 02:53:58 No. 7372 [Reply]
Finally coming out on Christmas day, December 25th. No extra cost for HBOMax subscribers so for everyone other than those who use roku and amazon fire stick which has been a huge weakness they've failed to address. Kind of expected this since there has been a constant back-and-forth between theaters and studios and the studios have more leverage since they make the content. The could save theaters by releasing their big movies but the studios don't want to lose too much money on them so they hold them back and delay them whenever new "cases" pop up. There's also the heavy support for streaming and push for PVOD so it looks like at least right now, Warner doesn't see much value in the theater's future to survive. The other reason why is because they have a Trump stand-in with Maxwell Lord as a focus of the story and want to get this dated political reference in while Trump is still president or if the recount doesn't work well in their favor when the actual electors pick the president and not the news media. They did re-use most of the last trailer with some extended dialogue scene but it remains mostly the same visually. Cheetah still looks terrible and Kristen Wiig still seems like a bad choice. Anyone still interested in watching Wonder Woman 1984?
>>7372 >Anyone still interested in watching Wonder Woman 1984? Anyone who was the least bit interested to begin with is a fucking retard.
Good. The death of commercial cinema is a opportunity for artuers to be the only one's left who care about the industry.

Why continue to use something that works, stylish and/or is extremely icon; when you can butcher it and make it look laughably bad.

>>6578 >pacing is just a minor problem but it gets worse as the show goes The show has the problem where almost every time we learn about the gems and their culture or about Rose, the writers decide that there needs to be 5 or 6 filler episodes with the random, mostly boring Beach City townspeople. So you get those episodes where Steven's put on trial and Lars dies and shit but then right after, they have this stupid fucking arc about Connie refusing to talk to Steven and none of what happened on Homeworld is addressed at all. >Character characterization is way different, Pearl and Garners feels like totally different characters compared with later seasons. Remember when Garnet's personality wasn't centered on the fact that she's a fusion? Those were the good 'ol days. >we got angry because the ideas introduced in S1 didn't go anywhere, like the cluster having no purpose whatsoever It existed to foreshadow how the writers were going to handle every new conflict after that point- just have Steven talk it out with the villain and now they're a good guy and everyone's cool with it, no matter what they did in the past.

>>7325 Me too. Remember there was the episode in that arc where the gems assume he's still reeling from everything that happened on Homeworld but Steven's actually more upset about Connie not talking to him rather than seeing Lars die and nearly getting killed? That sure was great, wasn't it?

Ken Spears, Scooby-Doo co-creator and Ruby-Spears co-founder dead at 82 Anonymous 11/10/2020 (Tue) 03:54:21 No. 7149 [Reply]
https://archive.vn/a7qGW Ken Spears, co-creator of Scooby-Doo and co-founder of Ruby-Spears, died Friday. The other half of these duos, Joe Ruby, died earlier this year in August. f
Jinkies, jeepers, zoinks, ruh-roh and traps. In all seriousness though, it's a damn shame to lose both of them in the same year. 82 is a good age to go, he lived a full life, but we're left the poorer over his loss. May he be remembered and celebrated for a long time to come.
Rest in Peace. Scooby-Doo is a fixture. Even the really corny episodes are always entertaining. Thanks for the memories, Ken!

>>7043 When was the tipping point, 2008?
>>7045 Personally, I would say so, but you can take my opinion with a grain of salt because I was in my early twenties back then, so I probably don't have as thorough a grasp on what the state of politics was before that point.
>>7045 Politics is downstream from culture. Culture has just been falling off of steeper and steeper cliffs, with notable cliffs being in 2007 and 2011. Of course, there have been other cliffs since, this year being one of them, and there have been many before. "Tipping point" depends on where it became too steep for you to personally tolerate. But then once it tips past that point, you can see all the previous tipping points that you tolerated, and now realize that you should not have tolerated them. I tolerated 2007, and I regret it every day. 2011 was my tipping point. But of course now I can see it going back many decades.

Book is about a man who stumbles upon a mysterious house. He feels drawn to it in a strange way, and decides to purchase it to unravel it's mysteries. Overall story is contained in three tomes.
