WB sold to... Discovery Channel?! Anonymous 05/17/2021 (Mon) 22:21:24 No. 13020 [Reply]
https://archive.ph/wip/s2OXJ Warner Media, including DC comics and a few video game studios, has been sold to Discovery Channel of all places. Place your bets on 1: how long DC will last before it effectively closes down, and 2: if it will be totally closed, mined for a few trades of classic stories every few years and/or retain the bare minimum of content needed to keep certain properties.

Forgotten Cartoone Hunt Anonymous 05/16/2021 (Sun) 15:40:40 No. 12991 [Reply]
I'm on the hunt for a couple, specific episodes of old cartoons - one was definitely from CN, while the other probably was. Don't remember the showS but do remember the episodes' contents very vividly. I'm pretty sure that the first was a one-off original which aired during a marathon. Essentially: a pied piper kind'o guy lures a bunch of kids to come live with him in a mountaintop village, which is apparently inaccessible by everyone but him and those who he entices. They all follow along, much to the dismay of their parents, who camp near the mountain and constantly plead for them to return. An entire decade passes and nothing changes - the kids are now teenagers and still living with the pied piper in his forbidden village, the parents much older and still imploring their return. I don't remember there being any resolution to this. It was pretty messed-up to 6 y/o me. The second went like this: a trio of little boys, possibly brothers, are all hunting for a highly-valuable trading card. The older two repeatedly fail to pull a copy despite spending a lot of money at a local hobby shop, but the youngest is ultimately successful. Being a toddler and unfamiliar with the card game however, he doesn't recognize that a card with a picture of a red wagon on it is extremely valuable, prompting the older boys to chase after him. I believe that these aired sometime around '03. Pics related. Hope someone here can be of help - I've been looking for these for a number of years to no avail.

I've asked this in three incarnations of /co/ and I'm going to do it again. First one: >mid to late 70s, possibly early 80s on Leafistani television, but it was Japanese so it could be older >anime or anime-adjacent cartoon >main character (and possible title name) is Com-Com or Cum-Cum or something similar >tales of a young hunter-gatherer tribe boy >wore a red fur, brown hair down to neck >I can only remember one episode where he was trying to show his older sister that her 20-year-old caveman boyfriend wasn't shit by trying, and failing, to best him at grown-up activities >serious with comedy elements, rather than actual comedy >pretty sure there were mammoths and other prehistoric mammals Second one: >saw this motherfucker way back in the mid to late 70s >Something about an evil man with a windmill that would turn children into monsters or slaves >it would alter their color pallettes >kid and his pet talking bat try to stop him >pet bat gets caught in blast and turns evil and black

>>13071 Alright, no thanks to you buggers, I found the second one after about two hours of searching nearly every keyword I could think of. Jack and the Witch. It's not entirely as I described it (the "bat" is a mouse that looks batlike when transformed, the "man" is a witch), but I was 4 or 5 when I saw it, so I think I did pretty well, considering. >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mg276CLBjjE >https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_and_the_Witch I remember being spooked by it and, watching it now, I can see why. This is something I've been pondering on for years, now, and I was reminded of it again whilst reading Marvel 1602. I'm hoping you guys can spot me while I attempt some mental gymnastics. Every time an parallel universe is created, we can expect AT LEAST one character to be gay who otherwise would not be. This is common in Current Year™ because of SJWs and someone in Marketing not being up on what the kids REALLY want in their comics. This is a problem, especially for the SJWs who have REALLY not thought this one through. If, for example, Warren Worthington III is straight in Universe 616, and homosexual in Universe 311, that implies that, at some point, Warren either CHOSE dick or was CONVERTED AWAY from clam-digging and into the Greek sport of Bum-Darts. Colossus of 616: straight. Colossus of 1610? Queer as a 3 dollar bill and fucking Northstar. Did he get raped in the commune? Did he see a penis in a Russian bathhouse and think ''Da. Da, I am preferring that to the wagina." And why is Northstar STILL gay? Is that his multiuniversal default or did he just choose to be gay in that universe as well? Is there a straight Northstar out there somewhere? I doubt it. My point is that the SJWs, the main proponents of "born this way," by changing these characters are, in fact, stating that homosexuality is either a choice or something one is trained in to. Has anyone ever asked those fart-inhaling freaks why they think it's okay to make this "problematic" claim? Please note, I did not include Iceman in this because we all know Jean mentally converted him for teenager shipping purposes.

LGBT pandering in cartoons. Anonymous 10/25/2020 (Sun) 15:54:44 No. 6572 [Reply] [Last]
There's been a lot more pandering towards LGBT groups in cartoons these past few years and so far for the sake of "representation" but more often than not I've noticed that most people in favor of this tend to be shippers or at least have some sort of zealous fascination to the point of being fetishistic. They don't seem to be all too concerned with how the dynamics of how the two characters work together in a relationship or care about build up all that much and just introduce them for the sake of appeal rather than work up the relationship between the two characters. It makes gay characters in general seem like a gimmick meant rather than any meaningful development. Older cartoons like South Park with Mr. Slave and Big gay Al had more going to them than just being gay even if being gay was a big part of their character since their introduction.

Dark Ark Storytime - Repost Edition Anonymous 04/26/2020 (Sun) 04:02:40 No. 28 [Reply] [Last]
What if Satan learned of God's plans of cleansing the world with the Deluge, and he decided to create his own Ark? Dark Ark follows sorcerer Shrae and his boat, as he tries to survive the flood and keep his passengers from turning on him and each other. Satan promised to free Sharae of his debts and eternal damnation, if he manages to save at least two of each evil creatures. Sharea also has to keep monsters away from attacking Noah's ark, so that evil will have a populace to feed on and terror in the post-flood future. https://mega.nz/#F!2UB2wYKb!eomlbR3BrklNOK4P_EZ20g

This show is pretty damn good. Better than any other animated show on the US airwaves today. It gets away with more 'adult' humor, and by adult I mean something more along the lines of early Spongebob/Simpsons jokes. It's surprising that Nick picked it up out of all networks, but then I remembered Cartoon Network is trying to appeal to an infant audience since 6-12 year olds don't watch TV anymore. The second episode airs tomorrow but I know this site is too slow to have a live reaction thread. If you happen to catch it on TV or on the Nick website & want to describe your viewing experience, this thread is for you

Characters you hate with a passion Anonymous 05/26/2020 (Tue) 08:09:13 No. 1450 [Reply]
I can't stand the little nigglet, wish he had died at some point, even if to try give some emotional weight, at least the writers are smart enough to always keep him on the sidelines because if he had become part of the main group i'd have abandoned the series. It's also really annoying how they try to force the idea that he's friends with the rest of the group when they have almost zero interactions with him. So what characters do you hate?

E-Ratic storytime 04/04/2021 (Sun) 20:02:47 No. 11085 [Reply] [Last]
By request, issues #1-4 of E-Ratic. I'll drop #5 when it comes out. In my opinion, this feels like an attempt to do a GenZed Spider-Man, but your mileage may very. So far I've liked it, but Woke is always on the table, these days, so the second they have a heroic tranny or similar horse-shit, I'm out. But I must admit, if they can stay off the SJW non-gendered nipple, I might actually buy the first collection. >You’re fifteen years old. You’re suddenly granted incredible powers. Cool, right? There’s only one problem: you can only use your powers for ten minutes at a time. What do you do when you have to save the world but you only have ten minutes to do it? This is the problem faced by Oliver Leif, a teenager who has just moved to a new town, and a new school, and is having a hard enough time navigating classes and his crush before the inter-dimensional monsters started showing up. P.S. - "Gwen Stacy" starts off as a massive cunt, but she starts to improve when she realizes that real life (as it were) is about more than likes and followers. She still henpecks the fuck out of him, but I'm hoping that will change as he gets more confidence.

I was posting the PR comic general a couple years back but since Kyle Higgins got replaced as a writer around the Shattered Grid event which seemed hurried as hell I lost interest and the previews just smelled like shark jumping, also the Go Go series, which started pretty weak but it git gud later only to be dragged into the Shattered Grid mess.

Apparently the show is getting a season 3 on HBO Max. The first season was fine. Kind of dumb that Tulip's problem was literally just "my parents are getting divorced & I can't go to nerd camp" instead of anything substantial. Season 2 had Mirror Tulip as the main character & her struggle with identity along with the secondary character's struggle with thinking for himself was way better. But the production quality was noticeably worse. Season 3 will now focus on a new character, Hazel, along with some side characters introduced last season who don't see being on the train as a bad thing that needs to be fixed.

>>250 I finally got around to reading it. Not surprisingly, the book is very girly since it was written with teen girls in mind. It is ok, but the whole plot feels more like a setup for next tome rather than a story. New tome of Ekho came out few weeks ago, but only in French. This time Peking (Beijing) is the setting, and main cast is looking for contortionist dancer troupe to recruit for the talent agency. Formuille gets possessed by ghost of a exuberant and ribald Shaolin monk. Based on French reviews it is better than last few tomes. Cheesecake is likely back on the menu too, since many reviews mention that this tome is sensual and naughty. I wonder if the pandemic gets referenced. >>579 Skydoll is alright, but the book is more interesting than good. I think that the plot is average, and everything else carries it. World especially. It has an interesting look, it is dominated by cults and religions that mix carnal shamanistic, organized medieval Christianity, technology elements, and in case of dominant cult, they also have a good infusion of modern day corporate TV theatrics and fakeness. What's more interesting, religion is not portrayed as universally bad, but something that can be good or bad depending on people involved. You rarely if ever see this sort of nuance when covering religion these days. Art if very good if a bit unrefined compared to Barbucci's later work. There are other side stories and tomes done by other artists, bur they are not as good.
