Steam Workshop JAV's Anonymous 04/27/2021 (Tue) 06:01:43 Id:db4176 No. 295026 [Reply]
Tangentially related to Vida since this using Steam. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1497030/workshop/ EZVR Video Player has Steam Workshop support and it's currently being used as a JAV dumping ground. I'm debating with myself on actually getting it since this is fucking hilarious. Is $5.39 worth it for easy to access, but possibly temporary porn? The workshop for SEGA Mega Drive & Genesis Classics has been filed with Roms for years now, and nothings been done about it.

Translation of Famitsu Interview with Fumihiko Yasuda of Team Ninja Anonymous 03/26/2021 (Fri) 17:21:45 Id:c986e2 No. 270479 [Reply] [Last]
From the Ninja Gaiden Subreddit. <"I was getting frustrated by the misinformation stemming from Team Ninja's abysmal communication with its PR teams, as well as some of the misinformation stemming from a "translation" of this interview that was going around here (which wasn't a translation of excerpts from the actual interview, but a translation of bullet points written by a blogger who read the interview). So, since I live in Japan and know Japanese, I went out and bought the magazine and did a quick translation of the full interview. I hope this gives fans a clearer picture of this release and the circumstances surrounding this franchise. What I consider to be the most important/interesting information is in bold." Q: The Master Collection marks the first entry in the Ninja Gaiden series in 9 years since NG3RE. How do you feel now that this announcement has been made? A: Although they’re ports, I’m happy about it. I feel really sorry about making fans wait for so long. I was really surprised by how big the reaction was to the announcement — it exceeded my expectations Q: What led to the decision to port these three titles, and what do you hope to accomplish with this collection? A: The Ninja Gaiden series, along with the Dead or Alive series, is a flagship title for Team Ninja. However, we haven’t been able to release a Ninja Gaiden title on the generation of consoles that includes the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. This bothered me, and so I started the development [of this collection] just after we finished working on Nioh 2. This is the first PC release of the series, so we will be able to reach even more players. Also, we have new members of Team Ninja who grew up playing Ninja Gaiden, so I wanted to give them the chance to interact with Ninja Gaiden as developers. Q: With regard to the titles in this collection, as a fan, I’m pleased by the decision to include 3RE over NG3. A: 3 was the first title I worked on as director, and so I have a lot of memories working on it. But yeah, 3RE is definitely the one. [laughs]

>>297221 >And it sold decent enough numbers compared to it's budget And that was before the DLC, which drew a fair number of people in with the X-Men and F4 one. The Marvel Knights DLC was sadly ignored at first despite Morbius, Blade and Moon Knight being surprisingly good. However, you're using logic and following the money instead of thinking like Marvel, so unless Marvel and Disney somehow decide that money >>>>> agenda, I don't see it happening, especially when KT and Nintendo mouthed them off regarding the "No X-Men" rule that was in effect when the game was first announced. On the other hand though, maybe things aren't too bad, Nintendo seems to be picking up superhero licenses again, they got the exclusive deal for Lauren Faust's human ponies, the Supergirls stuff. Granted they got fucking Toybox to develop it, so there's that... There's a funny story regarding the development of MUA3, so take it with a grain of salt : the game has a few designers on board, the concept artists are from either Marvel or former western devs, to give the nips a clear visual of what the superheroes should look like in the game. Apparently one of them mouthed of to the 3D modelers and artists at KT that >We don't want you to disrespect our heroes and balloon their tits like you do for your fighting games so the Tecmo designer told him >That's absolutely fair. We won't touch the characters breasts at all <All the characters in the game and the art from the nips somehow has a fatter ass than the concepts drawn from the westerners Said artist is said to be the guy who drew the Fire Emblem Warriors new outfits and was responsible for the initial designs of the twins. You know the ones : where both were blue haired twins and had an ax and a lance as weapons.
>>297089 >>297221 Ah, shame. I'd love to play it at some point and I have no idea how well it emulates. >>297247 >>We don't want you to disrespect our heroes and balloon their tits like you do for your fighting games >so the Tecmo designer told him >>That's absolutely fair. We won't touch the characters breasts at all <All the characters in the game and the art from the nips somehow has a fatter ass than the concepts drawn from the westerners That's hilarious but I doubt anyone involved in that story would actually say it in public were it real.
>>297267 I'm pretty sure Switch emulation is the absolute best out of this gen. I think it's the multiplatform switch titles that bork during the emulation but I'm not 100% certain. >That's hilarious but I doubt anyone involved in that story would actually say it in public were it real. Undoubedtly, but it was going around nip sites at the time as a joke, so maybe there's some crediblity nip devs do go on imageboards a lot more than western ones after all. Then again, the way nips retell events in a dry manner often makes it difficult to see if they're sarcastic or if it's true unless it's something as absurd as the time Kojima was telling Suda about how he wanted Johnny to take a nervous shit while Raiden was shimming below him, instead of just a piss but Konami stopped him.

This has to be the strangest series I've ever completed. Not because of it being over the top but it's identity issues it's had since the PS3 era. Then somehow fixed them during 0 and the remakes only to end up believing they were a game series known for being over the top and whacky. With the next 3 games they released. Why is Kiwami the originals and 0 the only tonally enjoyable games in this entire series? Those 3 plus original 2 were enough to trick me into believing the game was focused primarily on combat call me crazy but I swear 2 on the ps2 was a lot more fluid and reactive than the ps3 titles. Whether it's because the new engine could never be figured out until 5 or they wanted to focus on the games being movie games at that point I cant ever tell. Especially when the stories are all nothing notable except for 1 which was your basic retribution revenge plot nothing more going on outside of Nishiki being enjoyable to watch devolve. Yakuza really is a series that the fans undersell by calling it a game focused on the side activities and stories. Especially when Kiwami was such a nice mix of arcadey combat and execution with the way heat moves were executed requiring positioning and specific prerequisites rather than just tapping triaangle on whatever downed enemy you saw. Side activities werent even prevalent until 5 implying everyone who insists that's the sellling point only ever joined around 5 and never decided to play any of the other games. 6, Judgement and 7 all feel over the top and tryhard making the game pure eye candy (which it isnt when a lot of the essense moves are boring or reddit tier trying to be funny) without any substance or good use of the combat until the latter half of the game which is fun sure but repetitive. What a strange use of 350 hours of my life. I seriously should have left it at Kiwami 0 and 2 once I played through 3 and realized the combat was never the central focus for these games anymore.

Horror games which stop being horror games later down the line Anonymous 04/20/2021 (Tue) 14:02:25 Id:3a9c30 No. 289537 [Reply]
I have a very specific itch that I'm looking to scratch and I was wondering whether or not you guys know any examples of this. I'm looking for a game, or a series of games where the main character goes through a horror situation but throughout it they become stronger and eventually the game moves from being horror to just straight up action. Death Space went close to this but unfortunately went and smashed its head against the wall with the third game due to EA's fuckery. There was an RPG maker series called Purgatory that did exactly that and I think Resident Evil also involves that to a certain extent. But do you know any other games that do that? But do that consciously?
20 posts and 5 images omitted.
Most horror games are like that aren't they? The player progresses in skill and resources as the game goes on and it turns from a stressful survival role into a more hectic run and gun one. Dead Rising would be my suggestion. The first one is goofy but definitely has a more serious tone compared to DR2 and Off the Record which are practically just action games with a horror theme.
>>291564 I played through RE2 properly for the first time in the last 2 years (spooked me as a child). In some ways, it can be a puzzle game as well; not for the key items but enemy placement with the goal being to minimize resource loss. For example in Leon A (?) theres a police station room with 4 zombies in a group as soon as you enter. You can take one out with a pistol but you'll probably take some damage, then re-enter and whittle them down. But the intended solution is to get the shotgun, then you can pass safely
>>289658 All of that with also more things involving the water too, you are under water make me feel that fear, the fear that I could get crushed by the ocean, that I may have to wade through watery areas where dangerous creatures, creatures that are also mutated by adam could kill or do worse to you. Also while I do agree with scarce amo focusing on stealth, hardest difficulty should be something like a heaven and hell mode, everything is as fragile as they would be if they existed irl (head and kill shots kill in one hit) and machines unless shot in key areas are resiliant making you have to not just sneak but play smartly. The only other thing I could think of is make hacking machines less strong or give them faster reaction times if you get into their line of site.man they dropped the ball not including the fishman splicers in 2, they were nightmarish >>289678 As long as you dont take away choices despite being insane like the ability to save little sisters (or hell like 2 the ability to spare some npcs) you would be fine. That change should be something like how they react to you in regards to looking and acting insane, like running away from you with you getting less bonuses from them when saved. Maybe one ending or change near the end would be the little sisters reducing your insanity at the end but shutting off all your powers (or locking out all but the "harmless" powers if you spared them, as a mercy to you. But if you force characters to only be able to kill them if you are insane you would be taking away agency from the player.

>>295721 Quite a lot of the 90s-00s RPGs that have characters who aren't player-generated ciphers have this problem or the introduce-quest-drop problem. Having characters that continually interact with one another in meaningful ways pretty much requires a nuanced plot so that they actually have something to talk about. I used to think Anachronox did a pretty good job with this, but the more I think back on it the more I second guess myself. It doesn't help that one of the important characters shows up so late and that the game never got the sequel it was intended to have all along.
>game treats theft as a crime >game world has a thieves guild >it's treated by everyone as a legitimate and necessary organization
>>296389 I think this is an example of dissonance between what the world sees and what the player sees. They might be considered a "legitimate organization" if they're operating behind a front or a shell company. Or the guards turn a blind eye or have the hearts of the people or whatever. It just gives a pretext for the player to do whatever they want >Thief Guild is impossible to find, does it even ... exist? >Player finds by turning a random corner

I probably replayed this game like a million times. I never touched LP2 or 3 but they don't seem to have been very well received. Is it a Dead Space situation where they completely ignored what people liked about the original? Can we get Lost Planet 4 with the Monster Hunter World engine?

Lately, I have been getting a little nostalgic and I am thinking about giving it a try again. Unfortunately/Fortunately I sold off my main account in 2011 for several thousand USD, so I would basically be starting on a pretty fresh character. Any jaded veterans or current players around? Is it worth playing in 2021? I know they have gotten money in recent years from chinese investment, but you can say that for just about any successful subscription based game.

It's been in development since late 2015 and was ported over to Source 2 in 2019. Since then progress has been going a lot faster. Development on it is very open and they post updates pretty frequently. https://archive.is/5UBsG The most recent update https://archive.is/R3hfj There's a bunch of information there but the webms don't work in the archive, so you'll have to follow the actual link on the top of the archive page to see them.
